Help ID a "Wested" Jacket

Post by midgettem1 »

Hey all- I was wondering if any of the leather experts could tell me anything about the below "Wested" Last Crusade jacket- I personally feel there's something fishy going on- could use some more info from the experts. Thanks!

Looks reasonably Wested-like. What are your concerns?

I might be wrong... but for a few years Wested had a cheaper off the peg option that was made elsewhere, outside of England (middle-east?). They all had the wider leather backing around the Wested label, like yours. If there is no Union Jack that says Made in England on the liner, then you've got one of those. As to the leather, I can't tell from here. The label that says "Real Leather" is a little concerning, considering that doesn't mean a whole lot.

Wested doesn't farm out any of their production anymore, as I think they realized it hurt their brand a bit. As to the quality of those jackets, I never heard of anyone complaining, but they never looked quite right to me.

Mostly the lack of "Made in England" labeling, like my other two Wested leathers do. I was unaware if there was an "off the rack" or "economy" listing for Wested. If so, that's cool, I just want to be sure before I go high and right. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your input! That does sound exactly what I've got here, which is fine. It looked a lot different from two jackets I ordered from Wested, so I was wondering if they had an economy version I wasn't aware of. Thanks!

Yeah, as I recall, they were made in Pakistan.

Still good jackets, but just not made by 'British Craftsmen' like the regular jackets.

I think you all are right. Seems like their "off the peg" were made...I thought it was India? That has been a few years ago though. Seems like the strap loops were oncthe flemsy side, not as durable as custom.
