This is a question to the whip makers among us...
How is the wrist loop attached on an Indy whip? Is it braided into the handle braiding? If not, how is it secured and how strong is it (by that I mean, how much weight can it support? The weight of the whip? The weight of a person?)
Thanks!

Re: Wrist loop attachment and strength
I learned how to attach a wrist loop to a nylon Indy whip today, and basically the wrist loop is braided separate from the butt knot, and then attached securely to the bottom of the handle of the whip. The foundation of the knot is then done around it, and finally the actual knot itself. Hope this helps!
Oh and the wrist loop should be secured by tack nails to make sure it stays put. This allows it to have a strong hold on the whip so that you could pull on it without it slipping. I have no knowledge on how they would do it with a Kangeroo Hide bullwhip, so they may fasten them differently than nylon whips. This is just the way I was taught.

Re: Wrist loop attachment and strength
In leather whips they are held by nails and sinew. I use staples and they are fine too. I have never had a problem with wrist loop coming undone. Of course, if you try to hang your whole body on it, it will probably break down.
I braided it once using top layer strands, but it was just too much work to do it in every whip.
