I enjoy seeing Northwest hats posted here. Mike is such a craftsman and his business is growing leaps and bounds. I am so happy for him. I have two hats that he made for me and I wear them all the time.

Dark brown. In some lights it looks dark brown, here it looks closer to black. Just like the film ribbon IMHO. It's beautiful stuff!

Well i kind of wanted the indy vibe but wanted a lighter color so it goes with more of what i usually wear on a day to day basis. I was hoping to get away from the indy hat comments so i went with a shorter crown and shorter brim sizes but its his indy blok. Fits my face better too imo. I also have my next hat kind if planned out but that one will be a big step from an indy hat. More cowboyish. I would go with Mike again in a heartbeat. Cool guy.

GREAT looking hat. My first thought was:

"Dodgson, Dodgson, we've got Dodgson here!"

For some reason it reminds me of Jurassic Park. I REALLY like that hat.

My latest from Mike.

Not an Indy hat, but with some of the same DNA. I was looking for a hat with a touch of adventure, based loosely on Alan Ladd's fedora from the film 'China'.

Image

This is rabbit felt, from FEPSA.

It is incredibly smooth, with a wonderful hand and a really rich light brown that doesn't come across very well in this photo.

It has a dimensional underwhelted brim.

Again I'm blown away with the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Absolutely fantastic value for money.

I saw this hat before Mike shipped it to you. The pics don't do it justice. That saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply here. You would have a hard time finding a better deal anywhere.

I thought it may be of interest to some here that Mike at Northwest Hats has found a place to rent to open a storefront Hattery Shop in the heart of downtown Eugene Oregon. It's an ideal location with lots of pedestrian foot traffic as well as being on a main thoroughfare through Eugene where it will have lots of traffic visibility. It will really compliment many of the other shops in the area. Mike will now be able to work on hats full time so the waiting time for a custom will be reduced.

Good for Mike.

Nice to see (non-Western) storefront hatters making a ever-so-slight comeback.

I guess hipsters are good for something. ;)

I looked it up on Google maps and I think it's 863 Pearl St. Eugene Oregon. If you look it up on Google maps street view you can see the empty store front.

Pictures say it all. Still a few shelves to put up and more hats to display, but 95% done. Incredible amount of people walking by and coming in saying how great it is to have a hat shop here. Mike should do well in both off the shelf sales and custom orders.

I hope the folks there realize what a prize they have to actually have a brick and mortar store they can actually walk INTO in order to buy a custom hat! A VERY rare thing these days.

The only one I've ever been in myself is Peters Brothers Hats in Ft. Worth, and the experience was amazing!

Good luck to Mike! We've done some business in the past, and his work is first rate! :M:

Agreed on both counts.

Mike's work is top shelf.

I so enjoyed visiting Peters Bros last summer to drop off my campaign hat for an overhaul. Even though I wasn't ordering a new hat it was so nice to talk to someone in person and chat about the ins and outs of what I wanted.

Given there appears to be an antique store next door it seems Mike picked a good location that will draw the kinds of people interested in a real hat store.
