Trying the temple of doom gear

Post by Holt »

I'm not a super fan of Temple gear allthough it has it's magic. I am mainly a LC guy but while I am upgrading the Last crusade gear I thought I might try out the temple look with what I got.

Boots (not pictured) Alden 405s

Yeah, knibs, it's going to be tough to top that last photo - WITH Short Round! We can't hold a candle to that.

The last photo doesn't count. Short Round is not Screen accurate anymore. You should have photoshopped him too knibs!

Just photoshop the NY Mets cap on him and it's all good.

Knibs I am digging that S&J bridge scene fedora. Looks great. I like it alot more than the one in the picture with Short Round. The other one just looks a bit big. That bridge scene one though, thats the ticket!

My dear holy mola ram!

That picture is priceless!

On the TOD note though.... through the years, I've grown an affinity for the movie and the gear. I've read alot of the pulp magazines from the day and just finished off all of the Solomon Kane stories.... and personally, TOD is closer to the adventurer in the jungle with a native side kick kinda feel. Danger of "cannibalism" from savages, etc. I like it more and more. The gear still looks like gear and less like a costume which I feel that later movies turned it into a costume.

All that being said, I'm curious. How is Wested's Temple of Doom offer? I know they'll never do a "Hero" version of TOD or LC. So, does the TOD offer require much customization?

yes, it's different! :TOH:

That's why I said ''screen accurate'' in the subject title. ;)

And I allways say. ''what do YOU think'' ''what can be improved''? opinions? etc...

It's a wee bit different to I got 98% accurate gear. lol.

I think we're all afflicted with screen-accurate OCD. "Well... my LC gear is 99.85% accurate to this scene, if you pause the Blu-ray while the shadows fall on Indy from this angle and the sunlight hits the crown of his hat just so... but you really have to squint your eyes. There. Do you see it now? I *told* you I'm screen-accurate! And best of all, I only spent 1/3 of my retirement savings to get there!" Harrison would be so proud of us.

I kind of believe that the Temple hat had some scenes where the pinch was a tight almost Raiders style pinch. For instance, the scene where Indy returns the rock to the village, the hat and brim have a more or less Raiders look. And the black and white photograph above has a somewhat raiders pinch. It's either that or the lighting.

Yup I guess you did. But still, I think the pinches on some versions of the ToD hats could be a little bit tighter... :Plymouth:

Awesome work Knibs! I especially like the hostage shot. You put that other Indy to shame.

Tell me, were you hesitant at first to modify the shirt? I would be!

I was going to head up to Dallas, but the weather and flooding made me stay here in Houston, how was the travel?

I think that's the best aging work I've ever seen on a bag strap. Looks like you've really been fighting Mola Ram hanging on that bridge. The jacket is awsome, too. And Holt's holster's distressing is amazing, too.

That 3rd pic looks exactly like the part of the river they were drifting along when the Mayapore shaman began trailing the raft.
