Post by Holt »

Lets see some old novapelle jackets. These came on the market around CS. Meaning 2008. They should show some good wear by now.

Have one that is worn much? post em up!

Wested novapelle CS circa April 2008, lightly distressed seamwork & re-lined in 100% black cotton silesia:

Just don't know why in the heck you would want another jacket Dale.

It's perfect. Wish they still had this shade of novapella

I briefly considered having Zoltar's LC cloned in novapelle (for no good reason but greed) when I was informed that the current variety of hide is much thicker than it was back in the day when this one was made. So I wised up and happily realized that my original trusty old novapelle is unique, and comfy as a soft old baseball glove. It's really become my second skin, and I adore it like no other Indy jacket before.

I just lolled. Ha! you even got a silver buckle for the web belt. You really do hate brass don't you!

Brass is fine for the Indy jacket hardware, but I've had that NH buckle since 1999, and I'm very fond of it (It's my name initials, after all!). Plus, it's actually hard to tell that the LC gunbelt buckle is brass in the movie unless you really look for it, so it's a detail that doesn't really bother me (sort of like the precise type of LC shirt buttons you mentioned recently).

EDIT: Holt, I just realized that you said webbed belt buckle, and I was talking about the gunbelt. But the other buckle is a Noel Howard also. Originally it was predistressed oxidized brass, but I wasn't thrilled with the effect, so I sandpapered it down to the bare metal, hence the silver appearance.

That's cool stuff!

How many years ago was the last time you applied pecards?

Gosh, it's probably been 4 or 5 years. In my latitude, it's too warm for the jacket most of the year, except autumn & winter, and certainly not enough rain to warrant annual Pecards applications. The slatherings I applied to the jacket in its first 3 years of life have remained in the leather, giving it the permanent glossy shine that it has. Very few parts of the jacket feel dusty~dry, so I'm not terribly concerned. If I decide to give it another treatment someday, it will be a very light rub-down.

The digitally rendered Indy model looks exactly like Harrison Ford, however, the finer details are muted in the downscaled character on-screen, resulting in a somewhat cartoony likeness.

Here's my dark novapelle - it's not had much wear as I don't often wear it.

I love facings. Anyone who has ever snagged their zipper on their lining of an unfaced jacket knows what I'm talking about. ;)

VERY nice looking jackets!
