Wested Raiders in Novapelle

Post by clark.j.kent »

Just received my custom Raiders in Novapelle today. Gotta say that I love the fit of this over the LC I bought a few weeks ago (Probably helps that this is to my specs over a clearance jacket):

And much love to gussets (No more wings - well, minimal at best):

Great looking jacket. Congrats! Allthough an Indy jacket is not famous for it's front. Show the back ;)

Hey CK, nice jacket! Just interested, why did you decide to choose NP for the Raiders jacket?

I had recently purchased a LC jacket in NP and loved the weight and feel, however wasn't a fan of the fit as it was a clearance item so it was in someone else's measurements.

Decided to order the Raiders in the NP to my measurements and love the fit. I may get a LC down the road to my measurements, but i'll get some wear out of the Raiders first.

That is a really good fit. Even I couldn't complain about those armholes. The jacket looks functional, like you could move freely in it.
The novapelle is only going to look better and better with time too. Wear it heaps.

Great looking jacket. Can someone tell me what hide Novapelle is? I searched the Wested site. Is it an industry term or strictly a Wested thing?

IF memory serves me right, it's the same type cowhide that Nowak used for the CS jackets.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it's basicly the same as the Nowak CS skin.

NP is a naked cowhide with a dusted top sealing.

Got a bit of rain here yesterday so did a few laps around the block to break in my jacket. Looks to have darkened and loosened up a little:

(Mind the cables. It was the only spot with nice afternoon sun)

The more you wear it, the better it will get, and the more it will take on YOUR personality and body shape, making it YOUR jacket.

That's the ONLY way to make a leather jacket truly yours.

WELL done. Homerun right out of the park the first time!

Just got this Wested LC from another board member (Auburnindy). 42 chest instead of 44, and 25.5" length instead of the 27" on the ROLA. Bit of a different look, but I'm liking the slimmer look of this over my last LC. Hopefully it doesn't look too short on me:

I'm getting ready to make a Wested LC purchase and I'm trying to choose a hide. I emailed Wested and asked what they thought of the Copper Novapelle in terms of weight and 3 season use + cool summer evenings and the reply was that it would be too heavy for year-round use. Just wondering if there are any "user" opinions out there?

I have one in dark brown (looked gray until I put pecards on it). It is a Winter jacket. Here in Germany you might get some very late Fall and very early Spring wear.

Clark, your Raiders looks great! Just to clarify it is not the "Hero" Raiders, correct?

Hey, thanks!

Yeah, it's a custom ROLA. Thinking of getting a custom LC soon. I have a clearance LC, but it's too short in the body, so not getting worn.

Wested Raiders in Novapelle

Post by ChrisMD »

Glad this thread popped up. Recently I've been wearing my Raiders Novapelle quite a bit and I cannot believe I'm saying this, but that Michaelson fella was right! Wearing these jackets makes them look absolutely fantastic. After the way this jacket has aged over the last year and a half by just normal wear, makes me shudder to think I ever considered even mildly distressing it!

Just don't tell him I said he was right, it'll go straight to his noggin!

Ijq8 as far as year round it really comes down to where you live and what kind of body you have. I sweat very easily and seem to hot more than cold. Being overweight doesn't help me here haha. I live in Colorado where the weather seems to be clinically insane. I am lucky that there are even times in summer that I can get away with this jacket at night. I will wear mine with a flannel shirt when it is in the 30s and feel perfectly warm. Once it gets below that I switch to a winter coat such as a Carhaart. The jacket is light enough however to be able to be worn as my only layer when it is in the 40s+. This works for me, but some people run colder.

Recently got a new Raiders hero in dark brown novapelle and it is a masterpiece of leather craftsmanship. Still getting used to the narrow sleeves & higher armpit opening. Super comfy though!
