Boot repair?
I have a pair of "close enoughs" and one of the quick lace hooks broke off. Is that something I can fix myself or would I have to take it to a repair shop?
Re: Boot repair?
Without posting some pics it will be hard to tell. I imagine it all depends on how they are physically attached to the boot.

Ouch! That doesn't look good.
I know this is off topic, but what kind of boots are those?

Re: Boot repair?
I would imagine any halfway decent shoe repair shop would be able to replace that broken hook with a new one ( looks like it's riveted in similar to the lace grommets? ). I like repairing things myself, but if it were me, I'd be afraid of damaging the leather around the hook - definetly look into a repair shop for this.

They're the Land's End Crosby Moc Toe boots. I've had them for a few years. They're pretty good and beat up now. Not Indy-level beat up, but getting there naturally.baddates1 wrote:Ouch! That doesn't look good.

I like repairing things myself too, especially if it saves a couple bucks. I was hoping it was easier than it looks. I agree that this is something probably best left to the pros. Thanks for confirming that!Solent MKIII wrote:I would imagine any halfway decent shoe repair shop would be able to replace that broken hook with a new one ( looks like it's riveted in similar to the lace grommets? ). Those are claled speed hooks adn are attach like any other rivot item, pants snaps etc.
I've see nthem on ebay, you can probably get them from Tandy leather.
You'd drill out the old one, pop the 2 piece through the holes and set it with a hammer and die.

A shoe repair guy might not even charge you do replace it, especially if you do the removal of the old one.

Could also contact Lands' End and see if they have repairs? You can email or set up a chat with them at http://www.landsend.com/customerservice ... -contactus" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
