I have just one more question:Can LLS make a raiders hat with an accurate turn for people that have regular oval heads?

Custom made fedoras come un-tapered.....crowns looking like "l l" rather than "/ \" in shape.

baddates, ask David Garrison directly via PM or email.

Vendors are your point of contact when it comes to answering specific questions regarding their products.

We're 'second hand information' suppliers when it comes to that.

We see a LOT of mass produced hats show up that are tapered right out of the box, so the question is a justified concern, especially if that's all you've ever owned or had in hand. If I've been reading correctly, all baddates has ever owned is an Akubra Fed, and they do come unbashed, but slightly tapered. Not badly tapered, mind you, but tapered none the less. :)

Thing is, we're comparing apples to oranges on this one, as a custom made hat is NOT a mass produced version, and so the rules are completely different.

I agree with Michaelson here: My Fed III (yeah, yeah) tapered very quickly, and the bash and height of the hat became quite unruly.

Yes, the akubra is the only true Indy hat I have. Sorry, I should ask the vendors these detail questions. The taper I am referring to is probably from me putting my hands in the front and back inside of my hat, and pushing them out, so to give that accurate brim look. It probably stretched the hat, so I messed it up :?
Sorry for the confusion and the questions that should have been asked to LLS.

My Garrison came turned. I assume he does that on his Raiders hats but if you are concerned just reach out to him. I'm sure he will answer all your questions.

SORRY, SORRY, ](*,) had two boards open at the same time and put in wrong place, very much love both Army of darkness (mondo poster) and what was ACTUALLY being talked about here Young Frankenstein (which hopefully the Alamo will do a screening of as well).

Ha ha! I know this may sound crazy, but I never watched the first Frankenstein film. I've seen some of the others, but the first film just never is on TV. I don't own it unfortunately, so yeah.

Hat came!!!
========
Loving this hat! It was there on my doorstep when I came back from shooting hockey pucks. I couldn't wait to open it! When I opened it(which during this process, I cut my thumb :? ), the first thing I saw was that lovely Champagne liner with the staff of Ra insignia in it! I pulled out the hat, and it was beautiful! I love the ribbon work, and the inside liner, everything on this hat!

The good: It was very nice Rabbit felt, really nice ribbon work, and the liner was really nice! The felt is very soft, and I'm sure with a bit of time, it will have a very nice color to it! It is the best hat I have! I love how the liner is sewn in, and not glued.

The ok's (just my personal preference): I feel bad about writing this, because it is a very well made and beautiful hat. Please forgive me LLS. The front sides of the brim was down too much, and there was too much of a hump in the front(this may have been from shipping). The top of the crown was a little bit too pointy, but all of this can be redone with a bit of tweaking ;)

All in all, it is a very well made and gorgeous hat! I will be wearing this thing quite a bit to break it in! I am not disappointed at all!
Thank you LLS for making this hat! My federation deluxe IV was getting a bit worn, so I needed something new, and you nailed it!
Pics soon to come!

Regards! -baddates1

First - what did those poor hockey pucks ever do to you?
Second - I wouldn't sweat it's current shape. They start looking one way and a month down the road they start looking like YOUR hat. :TOH:

Greetings All,

I too have ordered a raiders hat from Garrison Hats mid last month. I got to talk to David through email, and he was very friendly and insightful while helping me decide on my order. I decided to go with the Raiders style with the asymmetrical turn and I can't wait to have a look at it. I don't expect to hear any updates on it until late March or early April. Once it arrives, I'll be sure to share it here with the community.

Best regards,

Trevor

Today I received an old vintage hat I had sent out for reblocking. This 30+ year old hat found its new glory thanks to the great craftsmanship of Garrison Hatters. I must admit I am amazed from the entire outcome since the hat was in terrible condition due to improper storing. I never thought it would look so darn good. Thank you very much David, as you can see the hat made it to its destination and you have a completely satisfied customer  I hope you are enjoying the lovely comfort of your home. And since threads like this worth nothing without pictures I have attached a few. The two at the bottom are obviously before David made its miracle.

David brought back to life a vintage beater featherweight felt hat of mine several years ago and it still looks awesome. It's my go-to summer felt. There may actually be pics of it earlier in this thread.

This hat has stayed on in some pretty good windstorms. When the Chinook winds come through this hat stays attached to my head alot better than you'd think! Almost wonder if I got a size too small! :)
