Adequate boots that can be found in the UK

Post by The0w3n5 »

Hi, I'm new here.

As my quest for gear continues only one item is left on my list. The boots. I am not willing to buy the Aldens because of the cost, and Todd's are not available because of the size.

Can anyone help me with a good site to find a accurate (ish-not 100%) pair of relatively cheap boots? :-k

Many Thanks,

The0w3n5 :TOH:

Thanks very much. :TOH:

Although the redwings boots do look accurate, i don't really like the sole of them.

I will keep regular updates on ebay though.

Try 'Covet' by Caterpillar. The seam around the front is a little high, but they are a very comfortable boot.

I am going to guess that the boots you where looking at where the Red Wings 9030 Beckman Mock Toe boots? If so, there is another pair that is 'historically accurate', they are the Red Wings Iron Rangers. They have accurate (ish) soles, and they look great after a while of use. They are historically accurate in terms of style, for they look like the boots paratroopers in wwii wore.http://www.redwingheritage.com/USD/prod ... I think they're just John Lewis Own brand. Pretty decent though!

Tried the John Lewis ones on today. Very nice fit. Fur lined so pretty good for the winter. Not so good for desert sands.
Added them to my Christmas list.
