Here is a picture of the one Noel Howard had on display - as to the exact maker he couldnt be sure but it was screen used and not a Wested.

As I understand thigns it was a French company although I think Michaelson is the authority on this story.

That's what I was told years ago, and no one has been able to determine what the French company was. Either way, it was said that Ford did not like the jacket, and refused to wear it most of the time. Not sure if it was his loyality to the Wested, or that it was rushed into production, and didn't fit well...what ever....That's supposedly one of the reasons he's without a jacket throughout most of TofD. Plus it looked as though he was really, really warm in TOD, coupled with the fact that he was playing through the pain which added to his discomfort. I know that if I was running around in 80 degree Sri Lanka I sure as #### wouldn't want to be wearing leather. At least 'Raiders' was shot mostly on sound stages where the climate is relatively controlled (yeah, yeah, I know lights are hot before anyone posts), and the desert might've been cool by night fall.

The only way that this mystery could finally be solved is if we could see the future Wested's requisitions or books around 1982/83. What else were they working on at the time that they'd be too busy to work on a high profile picture like TOD? Additionally, I don't think it has anything to do with Ford's loyalty to Wested, I mean, do you really think he cares? C'mon, doesn't he own an Expedition now? I know he's friends with Peter and drops by when he's in town, but do you guys really think this is the reason he hated the French jacket. Maybe there never even WAS a French jacket. France would be the last place I'd source a costume from if I was shooting a film in England and India.

I was in France for a year and a half in the early 90's and saw an Indy jacket in a department store there. At the time, I had my own Indy jacket that I had ordered out of the Paramount catalog in '89. So I didn't bother buying the one that I found there. I kind of wish I had now. Unfortunately, I don't have much to add since I don't remember the name of the store or the brand of the jacket. All I can say is that I definitely saw an Indy jacket for sale in France and that it did not have the "Indiana Jones" patch on the inside. Sorry, I know this doesn't help solve the mystery, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Well, there's a lot more to the story, and it's been told many times, so there's no need to repeat them again, BUT, just two points to what was said above.....yes, Ford does wear an Expedition...it was given to him...he did not buy it. Second point, the only jacket Ford KEPT voluntarily and by his own personal choice was a Wested LC....he wore it to the premier of the DVD set release, and took it out of his own closet. All the Wested jackets were tailored to Ford, where the French jacket was spec'd OFF a Ford jacket, and none of them fit correctly, so he did not like wearing them. Was he product dedicated? Who knows? It was a Wested that he carried home with him after a shoot, though. Regards. Michaelson

I could have sworn that Peter posted in a thread and addressed the questions about the France jacket, but after doing a check on Peter's posts, I couldn't find it.

Or to save some effort:
To answer your question.
1. We supplied some principal jackets for TOD and they were going to use the original Lost Ark jackets for the stunt men, however in the middle of filming either some jackets were damaged or went walkies and replacements had to be found very quickly.
2. I refer to it as a local company but it was possibly the wardrobe dept working on site with the film. However with no proper pattern the design and fit were well off the mark which is why Harrison Ford was not a happy Bunny. Bermans and Nathan could not produce them via us as we were tied up with urgent James Bond 007 jackets and there was no one else to make within the time frame
3. This did not offend me as in the event we were called back in to make the jackets for Last Crusade vindicating the quality of my production.
Hope that clears the air
Cheers
Peter
