RIP Master hatter
I'm so sorry to report with a heavy heart that master hatter Alexander Conley has passed away. I meet him a couple years ago and he opened his doors to me and we talked shop for a couple hours. He is a true gentlemen and great hat maker. Hatting world has lost a great one.

Seems like a pretty neat and talented guy who saw a lot in his lifetime.
Love the part about how exactly he got into hatmaking.

I was a bit surprised how much this hit me today. I wasn't working at my normal speed. Took a lot of breaks. Really nice gentlemen.
Before I got into hat making I only had contact with 4 hat makers. After I got into hat making everyone That I had any contact treated me poorly. There were down right nasty. Only two treated me with respect Brent Black and Alexander Conely III. Alexander was so happy to see me the first time I met him. He said " I'm so happy to meet you." I was in a little shock. I asked why? He said that all the hat makers he knew where all dead. He also said " I'm so happy to know another hatter." We had a great time talking shop, were compared hats, hatting techniques, how we got into hatting and so on. He was a very nice soft spoken gentlemen.
I think the hat world lost a great one but I think the world lost a true gentlemen.
