The handguns of Indiana Jones

Post by Indiana Bond »

In putting my collection together of the various handguns used in the Indiana Jones movies, I decided to put together a list of all the various handguns used in the four movies. The list includes the make and model, identifying characteristics, and the characters that used them. I thought it would be informative to share this list with you all so that all the information is available in one place.

I guess the Remington 1875 was the one used by one of the guides. The one Indy knocked out of his hand with the whip? Right?

Thanks, Always thought that was a Colt Single Action Revolver. Obviously I was misinformed. I know my guns but never looked closely as I formed my opinion many years ago.

Yes you can see the "fin" under the barrel identifying it as a Remington 1875.

If you can catch a still frame of the revolver right as it bounces on the ground and before it goes in the water, I believe you can see it even better.

Michaelson,

Let me know if you see any mistakes or additions in the list. I think I got it pretty accurate. Also the items with the period (.) at the end are the ones I have in my collection. :)

Hmmm now to start collecting all of these. Actually there are a few that I already have in my collection and I had just got them because I liked them without the Indy connection.

Well it took me 5 years to get all the major pieces. I started with already having the Hi-Power and the 1911A1 (which I forgot I had and just found again yesterday) and also the Remington for SASS. The rest I bought specifically for the "Indy Collection". The Webleys are the hardest to find and they are expensive. The Luger and Broomhandle are easier to find but are also expensive. I'm still looking for an Inglis and those are getting harder to come by at a reasonably price also. Everything else is pretty easy to put together. Like I already mentioned, the items with the period (.) at the end are the ones I now have in my collection and as we can see I'm almost 100% there!

Yeah I have the 1911 and SAA with 4.75 barrel (my regular mountain carry). I let the Colt Police and 1917 slip through my fingers recently but money has been tight. I can't beleive what some people are wanting for Webleys these days, some are approaching Python territory. Thing is just about all of these guns are just going to go up in value because they are getting harder to find.

That's exactly right. To me these purchases are like investments as the price will most likely go up. It's better than leaving your money in the bank!!

I just wanted to post that I finally have completed my quest to collect all the various handguns used in the four Indy films. It's taken me almost ten years but I now have the complete collection of all 19 handguns!

Interestingly the piece that has eluded me for such a long time is one that is actually quite common. It was the Smith & Wesson Pre Model 10 2" Snub used by one of Lao Che's Henchman in the car chase through the streets of Shanghai. The hard part was finding a pre model 10 version with the half moon front sight. They were out there but would cost an arm and a leg. Finally found one at a decent price that was just a bit on the rough side. Definitely the type of gun a Gangster would have used!!

I will be starting a new thread soon with lots of pics as I have put all the handguns in a display case along with a lot of other Indy "props" to go along with them.

Thanks and stay tuned!!

Yes indeed! I contributed a lot in correcting the inaccuracies on those pages. Here is a link from when I first found that site back in 2009:
