No more Todd boots?

Post by indyexpat »

I enquired about another pair for a size currently out of stock and am advised there is no plan to reorder. Any suggestions? Magnoli boots available? Others? :-s

Alden's are just overpriced in my opinion.

not sure why indy knockoffs are hard to find? Why more venders dont offer them?? Especially the ones that offer other Indy items. Just seems logical.

Alden's aren't much more than Magnoli boots. I'm sure Mag's boots are amazing quality but if you're going to spend 450 for a pair why not add an extra 100 or so and get the real deal. JMO :TOH:

It comes down to paying for them. It's a small niche market, that a businessman can't afford to pay for 1000 pairs of boots if he's only going to sell 200 pairs. I think that's why Todd's is no longer offering the pants or boots.

Sad but true. :TOH:

The last I heard from Todd, he isn't make anymore pants or boots. I've noticed he's stopped selling the MRK VII replicas as well not sure if that's the same deal or not.

Rats.. Just ordered shirts and pants in my size were available. I'll have to pay postage twice. Magnoli boots look pretty good. Wested pants are similar fabric. Few options remain..

Yes it's sad, as I've heard that Todd's pants were almost like holding a pair of the originals themselves....

But I've heard as always that Mag's makes amazing pants as well.

I can't say my 405's are over priced, granted they've gone up 20 bucks but they are quality my good sir.

Plus a squeak developed about a year after I got them and they shipped me a new pair without any problems

Because our boots are made-to-measure and available in different colors, leathers and soles. :P

As Jack said, it's strictly a supply and demand-based business decision.

Retailers have to tie up a significant investment into what are essentially "boutique" runs of high-end reproductions for a very specific market. Think about it - your average costumer would probably scoff at a $150 dollar pair of boots or $85 pair of trousers, regardless of the quality.

You have a point..... I've often thought about having a pair of Indy shoes in 2-3 basic colours and never wear anything else..... same with pants and shirt :TOH:

I agree. I've started to build my wardrobe around my favourite pieces to be worn in all scenarios hence my stress over Todd's pants. Wested is a similar fabric and there's always magnoli. Mag boots also look pretty good.

No more Todd boots?

There are tons of lookalikes around that are great quality. Indiana Jeff recommended I get a pair of Timberland Chukkas. Well I did and they look GREAT and they have held up very well. Ive put them through their paces for sure. They look the part, and will hold up. Strange enough and I don't know why, but they haven't started to smell. I stink up boots usually and these guys just smell like leather. And you cant beat the price.

Ive checked your site..the prices are off the charts for pants,shirts,etc..I cant even fathom paying 150$250$ for some pants..some really cool stuff but way out of my normal mans price budget..lol

Do you really expect custom made QUALITY clothing to be cheap? :-k

I expect them to be reasonable..I doubt everything they have is "custom" as well..Just cant see paying 250$++ for a pair of pants. Just my opinion on the subject.

Basically everything except certain accessories is custom made. That's also why the wait time is about 5 weeks. Any place that has bulk stock has a pretty fast shipping time
