Fuller's Earth

Post by CRB »

I've had a look round - but cant see anywhere where it shows how to apply Fullers Earth to a Raiders hat. Any tips anyone ?

Get a old sock for most of it. Put some fullers earth in a sick and the the end. Beat the hat with the sock. Might want to put sonething in the hat as not to get any inside. Get q-tips for some of the detail areas.

John,
Did you just remove the SOC version from your offerings? Don't see it anymore. You did a good job on that one.

Yes. With the Penman Raiders hat you get a clean up raiders hat. It will still be as SA as possible but without the floating stitching for example. You will still will beagle to get them in both my Rabbit and beaver. The Raiders hat from the AB legacy collection will be using the light weight rabbit felt, stitching like you see on screen ( floating sticking and all) etc, etc. all one would need to do is add some fullers earth. The legacy hat would be the one I would recommend to do the Cairo hat. As I really hat replicating poor quality work and putting my brand on it. From now on "Penman" hats will no longer replicate that part of the Indy hats. They will be as SA as possible but done the way they really should have been. AB legacy will be for the SA people as AB is known specially for Indy hats.

I'm sorry everyone. I should have made a how to video before giving up "the Cairo" as a offering. I'll have to look at my current waiting list to see if I have one on order. If I do I will make one for everyone so it will be easier for people to do it themselves.

As usual john is too modest. There is NOTHING poor quality about the Cairo. Mine struggles to not look new and people compliment it just as they do my other Penmans. :TOH:
