First Attempt Homemade Holster.
Well, I figured why not give it a try. I had an old leather chair, some string and some time. Had to do a bit of reading with regards to stitching leather but I think considering it cost me nothing I'm quietly pleased. I mean it's far from perfect, but that just adds character and that's what Indy is all about. And yes I know the dome isn't SA but I used what I had on hand. I used the plan found on indygear.

That is a super excellent first attempt. Stitching is clean, and the edges look smooth.

Nice work! The holster pattern from the main page is, in my opinion, spot on.
With a little modification, you can even make that pattern fit revolvers with the 5.5-in and 6.5-in barrels.
Now that you've been bitten by the leather work bug, you'll end up wanting to do more.

The guy who makes my custom holsters lives just up the road a piece. Ive often wanted to ask him he wanted to have an apprentice or just let me see how he does things. Leatherwork is SO COOL.Bradsburns wrote:leather bug indeed! This hobby just keeps dragging me deeper down the rabbit hole.

Thanks Chris, just used a double needle technique I learned online. Measured out where to put each hole. Made holes. Then stitched by hand. hopefully with each leather item I make I get a bit closer to looking professional.
