It's all gorgeous. Me, I'm with 3 Penman hats now and only one head.
I might grow another head though when that Raiders rabbit comes out...
All the Indy offerings on my site with the Penman logo are made from my blocks ( my interpretation). The AB legacy is another story. Right now the first hat is a Raiders with the light weight rabbit felt. It's a different offering from Penman Raiders offering.
Penman Raiders will be made on my Raiders block using both my Currant rabbit and beaver felt. Can be made in any of the current colors.
AB legacy will be offered in the light weight rabbit only and only Indy the Indy brown.
Some time in the future others will be added. For example Steve's CS hero hat in beaver ( brown only) and Steve's grey travel hat ( granite only). Using Steve's CS blocks and technique and AB parts. These AB CS hats will not be offered until Steve retires from hat making as not to compete with each other. The reason why I will offer the Raiders as it a offering that Steve isn't offering.
I hope that clears things up a little.
John
When does Steve plan to retire? And by retire, does that mean he will not be taking new orders? I know for a FACT that there are AT LEAST 20-25 hats that are still due costumers that placed their orders over 6 years ago.

He plans on retiring when all his back orders are complete. And I think retire only has one meaning.

I don't have a exact date to give you my friend. I thought I would have had it by now but still playing the waiting game on one item. I need that item to make those hats or to have a final price and date.
Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
Well, after years of watching, waiting, and finally clicking submit I've placed an order for a Penman Crusader. I'm really excited! Also, John, I saw your posting on FB/Instagram for the AB Legacy and have to say that it's quite a tease, but just based on the color, I know I'll likely have to order one of those too.

that hat you saw in the photo is still waiting on the liners to show up. The good thing is, once they do arrive, I will have plenty of stock for years to come.

Today I finished the AB Legacy Indy 4 hat. Winner of thee William Shatner's 24th. annual HCHS online Auction. This will give you a sneak peak of what every person will receive ordering a hat from the AB legacy collection. Hat, hat box, hat brush, lapel pin and letter from Steve Delk and myself.

I've said it before (at least, I think I have -- and, if I haven't, I should have): You are truly a class act and so is Steve! What a beautiful partnership and legacy (no pun, what-so-ever) of a great line of hats! The 'Torch' passed to the right fellow ! W>

Nice teaser shot on your facebook!! Rabbit Legacy Raiders looks dazzling.
Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
Well, after looking at this forum and John's site for the past 6 months I finally pulled the trigger and ordered my first Penman hat this week. I gotta say that seeing all of the great photos everyone has posted with their hats has made me start thinking about what my NEXT Penman hat will be!
Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
Excellent choice! So did I, which did you go with?
Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
I figured I may as well start my Penman collection with the hero brown Raiders. I have a panama straw hat for summer, an oiled canvas hat for rainy days and a crushable dorfman wool felt hat. So this will be a great step up for my fall/winter/spring hat.
What hat did you order?

You'll be very happy with your Penman and you'll find you can wear it year round, even in the rain !! Enjoy and good luck !!
Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
I went with the Raiders beaver; I originally bought a poet from Swales at HJ back in the day and I've always been disappointed in it. I'm finally scratching that itch of replacing it with one that looks correct like in the Idol scene. I went with beaver because everything I've read indicates it's more durable quality fur. I also thought that man of means back in the day would have chosen beaver over rabbit (IMO) although the rabbit furs he makes look amazing and are what the original were constructed. I think with Penman's hats you can't go wrong either way.

Yeah, I went with the beaver felt as well. I want one that will last a long time and can handle some weather. As John said when I asked him about his felts, "Just think of the two animals. Which one plays in water more." Therefore, beaver it is!
Now I have to decide if there is a specific scene I want it bashed to look like. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

I wouldn't sweat too much worrying about a specific scene. As you wear the hat it's going to conform to your head and use and to a degree move away from being an Indy hat and definitely become your hat.

John how do you get that bend in the brim on your Raiders hats you have been posting on facebook? Are you just bending the whole hat in half? Doesnt show in your bash videos and it looks super cool! I would like to give it a try with my AB.

Like it has been folded in half. The brim starts to slope down on the side of the hat instead of the front.

Nope, not folded. That's what the hat does when it's creased off center (turned) like the movie and is sitting on ones head or hat stand.

Re: The Penman post 'em up Pages....The Adventure Continues.
Had a great conversation with John about my Penman Raiders that I sent for refurbishment. Out of the whole conversation, I think we only talked about my hat for a few minutes. We talked about everything from the light-weight rabbit felt, to awesome TV shows like Lost, our disappointment in the cancellation on Almost Human and Intelligence, and dabbled into a conversation about KOTCS, Star Wars VII, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Also got to hear of some hats that John got to work on for some important people (some mentioned on here, some not).
All in all, an awesome conversation.
