Stunt Whips?
Heres a bit of an odd question. Does anybody know if you can purchase those cool stunt whips that they used to swing on in the movies? I don't think anybody has asked this and I was wondering if they had made them or had David Morgan do it. It would be really cool to have one of those, although it would be too exspensive for me. I know they had a metal cord thing in the middle but I don't know much else. If anybody has any knowledge about them or knows where to get them, please tell. Thanks.
Cheers, Alex

I was just thinking of him and his family the other day when I was going through old pics of the Texas Summit from August 2002.

I had been asked to make a cable core whip for a guy about a year ago but he didn't want to pay more than $10 foot.
I don't know why anyone would want to own a cable core whip unless they were going to make a fan film. Then I would understand.
Tell me, is the whip very visible in the truck surfing scene?
In the opening of ROTLA when they swing across the pit inside of the temple I noticed how he swung on the whip and where he held onto it. He had both hands above the handle area. You never know how well the cable may have been secured to the handle. It makes sense to me. Why hang from the lowest part of the whip anyway? The whipcrack is very implied as well as the wrap in that scene. I studied that scene frame by frame many times.
If I was making a fan film I would use a rope and use the implied thought that you were using the whip. If you wanted a closeup of the whip hanging from whatever, take a ladder and tie it up above, but don't swing from that. That closeup only reinforces the implied thought that you put in the viewers mind that the whip is being used there to swing on.
Study that ROTLA scene a few times and you will really not see anything. Count the angles shot in that one short scene before they go into the temple before getting the fertility idol. THere are around 10 shots from at least 7 angles.
