....Chris has been wanting to get his first REAL whip. Ok well more like since the very second I was born. So about 25 years. I have been missing the one piece of Indy gear that no gearhead should be without. I picked up this Caicedo Raiders 8" bullwhip from Scot2525 in the classifieds. Awesome whip, awesome price! Great quality and I love the color! Cant crack it yet but I plan to get out and try soon. Thanks so much Scot2525 and Gus! I am now addicted to whips!

Whew, okay.

I really like the look of that 8 footer. I know its commonly accepted that Indy belted a 10-footer, but in most Raiders screencaps of the belted whip, I see an 8-footer with fewer coils. Much more manageable on the streets of Cairo anyway.

Yes, I'm afraid only certain Brides like the sound of a bullwhip in the bedroom. Most will likely express some concern. Do mind the ceiling fan to avoid that whole Pankot Palace issue.

I'm with ya on appearance versus practicality. For 'real world' applications (i.e., controlling animals or assailants, versus using it as a magic lasso), the 8 footer plus a fall is a good balance of looks and function IMO.

I can get a decent underhand crack with either whip length on our ground floor. Smooth floors and a looong clearance.

Cant find the todds whip holder I got from you. They say something always disappears in move. Ordered a Crease N Corral holder in mid brown.

I wouldn't worry too much about the hardware, unless it's really important to you. The double wrap holder isn't SA, but FAR better design and actually functional.

I discovered a cool way to cinch a whip onto one of the regular whip holders using several double-sided velcro strips used for bundling component cords - works great and is nearly invisible ( I'll post some pics later on ). Back on topic: Congrats on your new aquisition! That is one very nice-looking whip.
