Oh I wasn't requesting pics haha but would take them if offered. I was only curious to see what the leather looks like under the tanning. :TOH:

Oh yeah! Me, too. I didn't do any sanding. The acetone took of lots of brown but I never went super deep. I was mostly interested in getting the drape and body of a well worn/ aged jacket.

well I usually wear a xl in shirts, but I noticed the jacket says a large is a 24" across the chest..which basically makes it about a 48...so is it safe to assume it would fit me?

I just sold my unused TODDS Raiders jacket from 2013 marked L. It measured 23" pit to pit seam. I usually wear a 40R and have a 41" chest.
That said, the TODDS L is a perfect fit for me. I wouldn't want it any looser, but I wouldn't want it any tighter either.

I wear a TODDS L shirt with no problem also.

Hope this helps.

( :-k You could always by 2 sizes at the same time and send one back or sell it).

Todd's Jacket Owner's Thread

Post by Hollowpond »

Just when I thought I was out of the Indy gear game, they keep dragging me back in!!!! Bought this one from Ray. Size large and fits me to a Tee! (Sleeves could be a smidge longer, but other than that :tup: ). Last Todd's I had was around 2007, this one is leaps and bounds better. Construction wise and pattern wise...

I guess I'm back in the game! :TOH:

It is perfect for a Raiders. Getting dragged by a truck anytime soon? Maybe not so much.

But it really is perfect for Raiders. I'm pretty excited about it!

Hollowpond :tup: :tup: pure awesomness!!! and Arklover I share your statements....
Ray,you wear a Large Todd shirt no problem..so do I,but if the jacket Large measures 24" being 48" overall it´s smallish or snug and the sleeves short.I´m still smacked about the difference in sizes meaning,Large is 48 and suddenly XL´s 52".Seriously folks,does Todd´s XL Jacket REALLY measure 52" at the chest??!!

You never know....just make sure you look both ways.:)

Awesome jacket! Can anyone tell me if they are cut longer in the body than USW? Their jackets feel so darn short.

Despite any minor inaccuracies, I consider it hands down to be the best Raiders jacket for the price.

Peter emphatically considers it a knockoff of Wested's Hero jacket. Regardless of how one feels about that, it speaks volumes about Todd's to me. :)

I agree Cajunkraut! I think the flaps are perfect. I think sometimes the flaps are overdone and it becomes a caricature of the actual jacket.

And as to pedigrees, who can claim an original one anymore... :roll:

And considering Todd has been refining his jacket design since before Wested offered a Hero jacket, that ship don't really sail.

Anyway, just picked up a Todd's myself, and I must say it is far better than I would have guessed for the price. The leather is fantastic; I'd say supple with a great feel, among my favorite lambskin that I've handled. It doesn't creak at all, which is a nice plus. The color is on the darker side, but not quite as dark as Wested's dark brown. I requested smoother grain, and that is what I got.

So, how does it stack up over all to its competitors? The pattern is very good. It seems to be a great blend of screen accurate details and a more forgiving fit than the Nowak. The shoulders aren't quite as wide nor does the collar sit as far back as you would find on the Nowak Raiders, making it a far more functional jacket. The color of the leather is quite nice, a good middle ground between Wested's Authentic and Dark Brown. Ok, now the downside: cutting and stitching. There just isn't as much care put in to the construction of these jackets. A few bad stitches here and there, a piece of leather cut badly here. But really, it isn't so bad. When compared to a Wested or G&B, Nowak, etc. the quality of construction is the big difference. Given the overall presentation though, Todd's jackets are well worth the price. I greatly prefer the look of my Todd's jacket to my standard Wested from 2006.

If Todd offered custom made jackets in-house again, using this pattern and leather, I would gladly pay twice the price. It's that good.

I'll second that. If I could get longer sleeves on a Todd's that used this pattern and same leather, I'd be a Todd's owner again immediately.

I'll third that! Of course, if you doubled his price you'd be paying $400, which is still considerably less than almost all of the other vendors off the rack prices!! :shock:

I'll get some other pics up tomorrow. I'm 6' even and 190 athletic pounds. Pretty broad across the shoulders and the ONLY measurement that I would change on this jacket is I would add about 1/2 an inch on the sleeves.
This jacket has got me seriously rethinking my beliefs about the Raiders jacket. I think a lot of us over do the sleeve length for personal preference (and that is A-OK! :tup: ). However, I think the fact that we over do it has run over to our perception of what the movie jacket was.
Since receiving my Todd's, I have rewatched Raiders and I was taken by how many times we see Indy's shirt sleeve because of the sleeves riding up. Just a little observation... :TOH:

Im about 5'11" and about 200 athletic lbs and I too have brod shoulders..usually wear a XL in t-shirts...dont like the fitted look..need a little room...in the aboce pic it looks a little tight across the areas where its zipped up or is that just the way the jacket is pulled?

It's the way the jacket is pulled. It is in no way tight at all. The "off the shoulder" fit tends to pull that apart.
Todd says to order your t-shirt size and that worked for me...

I'm 5'11 and 195 broad shouldered aswell and have the large. If i would get another one i would go with the xl. An xl would be Longer in the arms and a less tight fit when zipped up. The screen worn raiders jacket fits kinda like a windbreaker. I think it should have a bit more bagginess in the chest and flop in the gut. Also since most of us wear jeans or chinos or whatever it would be nice to have a bit more length. Raiders pants are high waisted and regular rise pants with more length gives it that look a bit better. All in my opinon of course

Hear me ranting! :D http://www.moviestillsdb.com/movies/ind ... 6/2015c9a5 Spielberg wore similar fitting jacket in one particular "Behind The Scenes" pic when directing LC,however it looked like Raiders Jacket. I just like it that way. Am I the only one :-s Try to get one, it means custom made smaller size with longer sleeve,I quess.Todd´s Large´s close what I see.

This is mine straight out of the box in August 2012.

http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... 59171e.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... aa5947.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can see the kinda build I have for comparison if this helps I dunno
http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... 81ba4a.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Took these this morning before work
http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... 7feb01.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... d471cc.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The jacket is fine and fits well. But if I wanted the fit Ford has with his. With a bit more room in the shoulders and arms and gut area. Like this
http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b58 ... ea0d58.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would have to go with the XL.

erikgunnlugson and Hollowpond...####! Those jackets looks sooo Raiders,like something was pulled outta the screen in movie-theater,you know. :shock: :o What´s your chest size I mean to say is there much extra room as a 44"? When I first saw these Todd Jackets being offered I was so getting a Large but then the next batches were different in cut and such,it made no sense to me and the sleeves there should be some leather to let out what I´ve read here.Is the jacket true to the specs that Todd has on the site?

Man those new Todd's jackets look great. I've been out of the Indy gear game for a while now and trying to keep up with it more now. I have a Todd's jacket from 2009. The thing I didn't like about it was how short it was. Does anyone know if the new runs are longer than those?

I really do like the new hide. Big improvement over my 2008 XXL. Makes me want another one.

I have one of the 'Bantu' batch jackets with the 'frowning' yoke, and it's a great jacket, too. I liked the graininess of the hide. I can confuse it with my old G&B goat from 10 feet away, until I feel the leather.

But the new lamb with the markings and striations really make this jacket even more of a screen-accurate bargain!

I wanted to give Todd`s a "shout out" as I wore my very old Todd`s standard today. While initially kinda "plasticky" in appearance it wears down into a great jacket.

I picked up a 2009 Todd's and I got a new one to compare. Problem is, I like them both, for different reasons. The '09 has really thin lightweight lambskin that is is the perfect color and has the best shaped pocket flaps I've seen. The new one has incredibly soft, thicker lambskin with better grain, but is a bit darker in color, and has wider pocket flaps. Now I've got too many jackets in my closet again!
