Ray, took me 1 hour to answer your e-mail. Sorry about that.
We state on the pre-order (prior to any payment):
"The current waiting time is about 45 days -estimated- from payment.
We ask the orderer for a little patience, because the process can take a little longer, but we keep in touch the whole time."
Don't worry, "I'm working on it, I'm working on it"

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
It has arrived. The jacket of jackets. I just posted this info in the Vendors section as well because that is where it was offered for sale, but I just remembered this thread needed a reply.
This jacket is perfect. Right out of the box. The color, the flow, the weight, the fit. I have Zero complaints. This was one of the Remnant Pieces jackets recently offered at a special price Diego at S & J was very careful to make sure I was informed about every mis-match and flaw...and they are surprisingly few.
A few quick shots with the S & J Cazadora '36 (in Ribby Merino Sheepskin): , the newest TODDS shirt, and a several years old rabbit Adventurebilt hat.
And packed inside the box was a kind note warning me that I left my jacket on Katanga's ship and I should be more careful
I have the Highest praise for the craftsmanship and customer care offered by Diego and S & J

Yeah, the color on this pictures looks too "greyish". When in fact is chocolate. Must be lighting.RayROnline wrote:Texan Scott wrote:They did a GREAT job for you, Ray! Very true! The shot of that sleeve looks lust like the real deal!
would like to see a close-up of the texture/grain of that leather, if possible?
Your wish is my command. Shots indoors with a phone cam.
Chest right front:
Back:
Sleeve right cuff. NOTE: this shows unmatched grain which I was asked to approve in advance. Also, the color is UNIFORM but lighting is misleading here.
I just have to say, this baby needs NO breaking in. It's incredible. Even more so than my BK. Diego KNOWS the Raiders details and how to make them fit your personal frame while keeping the integrity of the style. I haven't seen that from any other vendor. I look forward to seeing yours.

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
I was not shopping for another jacket when Diego approached me about him having some very very thin Lambskin that he felt I might be interested in. My biggest inclination was that I like to "keep it in the family" as much as possible and, owning two of his hats, I knew I couldn`t go wrong. So I bit.....
The jacket arrived in a well preserved state. As some of you might recall, my hats arrived in some horrible conditions due to the delivery system, NOT Steel & Jones fault.
On the one side, my first impression was that it reminded me EXACTLY of Todd`s older jackets in terms of leather. It LOOKED really good but felt very "plasticky" and dry. I have read reviews of how the leather was super soft and yet this particular leather didn`t feel so. Again, it could be that this particular skin was a special case as Diego let me know that it was VERY VERY thin. I hope to remedy this by giving it a good bath in conditioner or something but right now, it just feels alittle too dry. And the color of the thread is a little too light as I can see it everytime I look at the jacket...like if it doesn`t blend or something but its not a deal-breaker for me.
For you stitch nazi`s, the stitching also reminds me of Todd`s older jackets. Alittle wavy in some places, and the seams of the leather are slightly visible on some edges. I understand that my jacket was one of the first to leave the new factory that they are using so I know there will be quirks to be worked out. The inside lining looks great and feels great and the little oddity that it has I have already spoken to Diego about. A factory hiccup that isnt really noticable to the outside eye.
One the other side, the cut, sizing, shape, and fit are superb! I am always impressed with Steel & Jones at being able to get the fit so personal being so far away from me. Their hats felt as if I was personally fitted and this jacket feels the same. Diego asked if I wanted any modifications early on and all I really asked for was a thinner yoke line and they got it perfect. I love their side-vent configuration which feels as if it is cut higher than on any of my other jackets. The collar strangely feels "molded" into place and yet is very pliable to move around.
The grain on the jacket is just right for me. Actually I thought it might be a bit too much but after watching Raiders today at the local theatre, I think it is spot on. There were alot of times while watching the movie on the big screen that I could see my jacket perfectly up there. That I feel is the biggest plus to this thing. All other vendors, regardless of quality or heritage, feels like they are just making Indy jackets that resemble what ever style we are wanting. And as good as they may be, this jacket feels really special in a way it feels as it the Steele & Jones crew put it together while sitting down and watching the film. Their design is so uncannily accurate that it really feels as if you have THE JACKET and not just a great copy of it. I hope that makes sense because that is the winning quirk about it. Todd`s kinda has that vibe but the Steele & Jones jacket is just oozing with that quality and that makes a BIG difference in this particular hobbly to me.
Communication was great as always and Diego, bless his heart, has been VERY curious as to my impressions on his jacket. I don`t feel my opinion is all that monumental and I am touched that he takes it to heart.
So I give the Steele & Jones Raider jacket a dozen
Here are a series of pics I took today. I wanted to do an awesome photo shoot for this jacket but this time of the season is very busy for me and so I just grabbed what I had at the moment. Points of interest: I modeled it with my Steele & Jones Raiders basic version and my Steele & Jones HJ Repilca S0C. I know that they researched the felt color long and hard but I feel that their regular felt used on their standard hat blends much much better with this color of jacket. The bag is WPG, the strap is a Keppler and the whip is a David Morgan...I thought these on-hand items would help with the color matches.

I am verey curious now as to what this jacket would come out in in a different skin. I heard he has some very nice thin cowhide......so when I recover from my finances, I may try another as I truly feel that Steele & Jones have captured that lightning in bottle that created the original Raider of the Lost Ark jacket! Well done, my friends from across the planet. I am very grateful for the hard work you put into this hobby and your product. It shows thru!

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
Gorak, nice detailed review. Having possibly one of their last, at least one of their latest ones, I don't see a lot of the little details you mentioned being a problem. I really love the color and the leather is soft and supple right out of a box. Funny though, the box was labeled in giant letters very fragile. And it came to me Christian on one side, lol however fortunately that did not affect your jacket.
I got to advise you that every one of your picture links comes up with the photobucket message: this link does not exist check the URL.
so I can see what you posted. I'm looking from my phone I'll check again on my desktop but really don't expect a different result. I just thought you should know.
also, please tell me which version of the skin you got your jacket made in. The ribbed one or the more smooth one?

Ok gang, I think I fixed the links....
RayOnline
-the leather is VERY thin ribby Merino I believe. I think the slight waves of stitching are due to the thinness of this leather. I imagine its like trying to sew silk material by hand. Nothing at all due to Steele and Jones company, just small quirks to work out with their factory. I love the fit on yours. looks very custom designed. and I totally agree with the "great-straight-outta-the-box" quality!

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
Gorak, thank you so much for this review.
It means a lot to us.
As for the questions on the leather, yes, this is VERY THIN Ribby Merino Skins.
On the last batch we bought, about 15 skins came really small and very thin. When I say thin, is 0.3-0.2 mm.
This jacket, a custom size 40, it weights 1 pound 14 oz.
Not a leather any workshop would use on a jacket. Because the resistance is very poor.
Not easy to sew either. Because moves/slips all over the machine.
Gorak's jacket is very unique.
Thanks again!
Regards.-

I have a thin cowhide version waiting to make its journey to me right now... I can't wait to see it in person. The pics Diego sent look terrific.Gorak wrote: I am verey curious now as to what this jacket would come out in in a different skin. Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
Here you can see some pics of my Steele & Jones Raiders 'Hero jacket', shot in some kind of Raiders like locations (recent trip to Bolivia and north of Argentina) so you can see the real colour of the leather, and how it moves.
By the way, I'm a hard size to fit (6' 5", quite fat), and Diego made this jacket just asking me by telephone my measures, and some measures from previous jackets to see which ones were alright, and which ones I'd like to change...just the same way Tony Noway made my Indy IV jacket in 2008... and these are the only jackets that fit me like I like, as no "off the rack jacket" ever worked on me...

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
Looks good. Thanks for sharing the pics. I would like to see an up close of the grain someday. I can't tell if it's the ribby or other in these.Odo wrote:Here you can see some pics of my Steele & Jones Raiders 'Hero jacket', shot in some kind of Raiders like locations (recent trip to Bolivia and north of Argentina) so you can see the real colour of the leather, and how it moves.

Re: Show your STEELE & JONES "Cazadora '36"
Here are some close ups...it's ribby merino leather...but I don't like those jackets with very heavy grain, so I told Diego to chose those skins where you could see the rib marks (like in the chest), but not many marks everywhere else. Back panel is great, too, but unfortunately I don't have good enough pics of it...
