Whoa... THAT is an amazing good "Streets of Cairo"-looking hat, Croft!
There's just NO substitute for time and natural distressing!
It always seems to produce the best, most authentic look with the MOST natural character.
Congrats on a lid that keeps getting better and better looking!

Canyon, I've always admired (what I've come to refer to as) your 'Zig-Zag" fedora...
It already looks great, but of course it always seems to look EVEN better when it's sitting atop your noggin!

thanks for refreshing our beloved thread.. and what a hat!!
Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
thanks.
I played with the contrast/brightness in these photos to bring out the shadows better but it made the dust come out pretty light and white. in real life it is more yellow.

GReat looking hat holt! I wonder what ok could accomplish with my fed 3 regular.. You've given me some inspiration! Are you wearing a wpg shirt in those shots?
Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
thanks. I tweaked the hat some more. I have this weird way of keeping doing this. I start out, become pretty satisfied, put it away and then I look at it again and think oh lord.. here we go again....
the shirt I am wearing is a Todds first run.

Okay guys,
here she is from ten minutes ago. I think I will stop here. I think I nailed it..
I have to say that I am very impressed with the fed 4. not only has it stood up against EVERYTHING I thrown her way pluss the weather it's been under, I have to say that there is just something about the block used on making the akubra. If you know what to look for in the streets of cairo hat and you are skilled at bashing PLUSS you have the patience? it brings out the most awesome look and is probably why I keep going back to akubra when buying another hat. However, I would love to get myself an AB or a LLS and give it a try!!

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
This style just might be my next quest...now which hat to get and have the $#!+ beat out of it.
Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
I'm narrowing my search for a great Cairo bash hat...I'm leaning towards a Garrison...yah or nay...?

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
If I go full SoC with one of my two fedoras, it will be with the Fed IV Deluxe, which I've already given the Nadoolman/Ford treatment and dusted up a little bit. I couldn't stand to do that to as nice a fedora as my Garrison. YMMV.

These all look fantastic. This style really captures the quintessential Indy look. Too bad it was only featured in Raiders.

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
Took a quick trip to the San Antonio Zoo this weekend and decided to take my FedoraRaiders Streets of Cairo Replica out of its display case and wear it thru.....
My daugthers wearing.....

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... hjyyw5.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I am slowly starting to get the brim to mold to my head in a much better "swoop" than what it naturally produced by my wide head. I absolutely loved the color schemes the felt and the ribbon would morph into. I had several "Hey, he looks like Indiana Jones!" and a couple of," I love your hat!" It actually looks 'dirtier' in person than it appears on camera and is very soft and flappy in the wind! Hardly felt like I was wearing it!
Great job, Jason!
oops forgot this one too

I'm curious, is it the same hat on the all pictures of your post?
The head form is very important for a good brim shape, if a guy have more round head, there must cheat by putting foam in the sweatband. I have a friend who have a same size that me but his head is really round and unfortunately, my hat don't have the same look.
Honestly, I love the result of this hat on your head, It's amazing.
Thanks again!

Re: The 'Streets Of Cairo' Hat Display Page
Thanks Jason, being that it's your hat and you are the Streets of Cairo master, it means a lot that you think it looks good so far. Yes, it is the hat I have taken most pics in other than my Steele & Jones HE Replica.
Ironically the others hats that I bought from you were in my exact size and so my round head always distorted the brim in a very non- screen accurate way. This one, I bought off a fellow member in the Bizarre and it was one size too big but that let me have extra room to put some padding in it to get the brim shape like the film. Still working on it to shape like I really want but the hat itself is superb in quality. Great felt.

Hello Gorak!
You are right, putting the padding in the from of the hat is the best trick to have the Raiders look and if the hat is more large, it's better.
Thanks again for good commentary.
I will put the picture and video of my last hat that I made last month.

If you didn't know better you might think that the Marhaba Bar hat/scene was photo shopped on his head.
