The Raiders fedora is my favorite of the four and they all end up looking pretty much the same. In addition to the 3 Penmans I have 2 Adventurebilts that are the same (although one of them seems to have a shorter crown for some reason).

I suppose part of the reason I rationalize getting multiples to spread the wear across several hats slowing the process so hopefully they'll outlast me. Of course since I have one favorite that I wear pAetty much all the time, that particular rationalization folds like a cheap suit. Still it sounds good.

Also, by having multiples, should one have to be send away to be reblocked, or (gasp) become lost or damaged, I have others that can step in and no-one will notice.

As for what else - I've been collecting hats for about 45 years.

In addition to the 3 Penman and 2 AB Raiders all in beaver, I have:

One AB KOTCS in brown beaver
One AB KOTCS Train hat in grey beaver
One Penman Seaplane hat in grey beaver
One Penman Cairo (rabbit)
One Garrison Cairo (rabbit)
One Penman Howard Hughes - Whiskey beaver (the limited edition one)
One Penman Casablanca in Granite beaver
One Penman in Dark Moss beaver
One Penman Raiders in Sand beaver
One Magnoli Herbert Johnson Poet (blocked by Steve Delk) - brown
One Herbert Johnson Poet - brown
One Akubra Federation IV - brown
One Akubra Federation IV Deluxe - brown
One Akubra Federaition IV - black
One Akubra Cattleman - grey
One Akubra Bushman - brown
One Akubra Squatter - grey
One Akubra Snowy River - tan
Two Banana Republic travel hats (made by Akubra) - one light tan and one olive green
One Akubra Slouch
One Abercrombie & Fitch Safari hat - olive green - with Zebra band
One Vintage Silhouettes Barnstormer - Dove grey beaver
One Borsalino Milano - dark grey
One Smithbilt Homburg (my father's ofice hat from the 50s)
One Stetson Open Road (my grandfather's)
One custom light grey fedora in western felt - light grey beaver (Roberts Hats - Abilene, TX)
One RCMP uniform parade hat (my uncle's)
One Brent Black Gatsby Montecristi
One Brent Black Kentucky Smith SE
One Christy's folding Panama
One Banana Republic Panama
Two Stetson fedoras - one light brown one dark brown
2 or 3 western hats
2 or 3 other straw hats
More baseball caps and other flat caps than I care to think about

Oh yeah . . . . and one wife who is frequently irritated by how much closet space the above consume. :#:

I tried that and made 3-4 but didn't much like it and I'm a much better hat maker.

Ridgerunner58. I. AM. IMPRESSED. SIR! My 2 hats are off to you.
Man would I like to go for a tour and see all those wonderful hats. Or just a tour in John's shop. He probably has that many finished hats there.
Everyone is so lucky to be able to go out and buy hats in person or even have custom hatters nearby. I would have to drive 30 hours to just look at a half decent hat. Thank god for the internet.

nope. That would be a strange setting. Can't see something without liking it. How can you like something you can't see.

The link you provided appears to direct to a writing a comment.
And what i meant was... people can create fan pages, etc... that are public enough to find without being logged in,
but in order to see photo's and timeline entries, you need to like the page.

Why? Cause I don't have anything to sell, you do. If I WERE I think I'd put things out there easy to access and assume they DIDN'T have knowledge of the technology rather than the opposite.

Speaking of 'goofing off while working', we both best get back to work then. They don't pay me for lunch break, so at least I'm on my own time right now. You work for yourself, so you're always on the clock....and time IS money! ;)

...Yep, you said you assumed they knew how, or quote directly, '....up to speed'. It's usually safer to 'assume' they aren't and avoid a lot of confusion. Any question that can be answered before it's ever asked is always a plus. Just a suggestion. :TOH:

Yes it has. I very much need a vacation. Can't remember the last time I had one.

Thank you for the kind words. I do try very hard and I wish I could share with everyone what I go though trying to replicate this hat ( and some others). On top of all that I still have to make them every day, answer question on the phone, emails, pm, post, Facebook, twitter, blogger, etc, etc Most of all that fun I hav to do taxes every three months and that is such fun.

I'm also trying new ways of making the sizing someone more personal and exact. Trying to get more tools made, blocks and flanges, etc, etc.

After saying all that. thank you very much. It means a lot when you made that post.

I work in advertising and I build websites for businesses. I always tell my clients that it's best to never assume anything with customers. Not because they're not necessarily up to speed, but simply because people have short attention spans, and if they encounter a hiccup they're more likely to just move on rather than take a moment to figure it out. In this case I'm guilty of the same thing, I got an error message and simply moved on, not thinking it through, even though I do have a FB account.

[quote="jedichase"]I finally got my rabbit raiders!!!!

It has been a hard 5 months watching other members post their awesome hats on this thread.
This has been the longest wait for a christmas present for me & it was well worth it.
Here some pics of my reaction as I opened the box.
The box!
Image
First examination of the hat.

Getting the hat on and adjusting it.

This was my reaction to first seeing myself in the mirror.

Here is a comparison to my pathetic previous hat.

I'll post some pics once I get in my close enough gear (this is my first piece of accurate gear).
The hat fits perfect, the felt is super smooth, and the sweat band is very comfortable
The wait was well worth it & it was exactly what I wanted.

I think you have sold me with your pic of the Raiders rabbit right out of the box.

So guess what came in the mail today?

Image

And after opening the box I found this:

Image

And here is your humble scribe with his brand spankin' new Penman LC hat:

Image

My grandfather used to say he was "really tickled" whenever something pleased him. I never understood what that meant until today, when I received this hat. I'm walking around with the hat on my head, running errands after I opened the box, and the whole time I feel like I have a butterflies in my chest and I just want to giggle. I'm finally in on the secret that only Penman hat owners know. The fit, the quality, the attention to detail is just amazing, better than any other hat I own.

Thanks John, you have a new evangelical to sing your praises!
