Are these boots from Duluth trading company decent CE's?

Post by Banky »

I'm 6'5" and I have size 14 feet which unfortunately means I can not get actual Aldens. Was browsing the DTC website and saw these, what do you guys think? Also I'm open to any other suggestions you guys may have for my giant feet.

Thanks!

If they are anything like the ones that I've seen in person they aren't very close. There is a big raised bit of leather in between the toe stitching.

Given those pics on the website, the sole is white and very thick and the stitching is very bulky. Not too close. You can definitely find better CEs...

btw, I just checked on ebay and I found around 6 pairs of good Alden Indy boots for auction. Most are size 11 or so (there is one size 8) but are nicely priced...so if you are in the market for Alden Indy boots, check them out!

Problem isn't finding Aldens it's that they don't make size 14 for my giant feet, afaik :( I know they aren't close, but not real sure what my options are with feet my size.

Wolverine makes up to a 14D in their 1000 Mile stuff. They make a style called Courtland that's pretty close. At $380 the cost is pretty close too.

I agree, the Wolverine's look much better as CE. Unfortunately they are twice the price. :?

Why don't you check with Magnoli. His are custom made to fit the clients feet so I suspect he'll be able to make pretty much any size.

I've owned a pair of his for a couple of years and they are absolutely top drawer. Ironically wore them into the Alden's store in San Francisco where the clerk complimented me on my shoes - incorrectly assuming my Magnoli shoes were in fact Aldens..

Best of luck
