These all look great. It's the first time I've heard of this brand and I'm impressed at the fine work. It's really nice to see that at present, there are several makers out there who have great quality and accuracy and there are a variety of Indy style Fed's to choose from!

Wow those new hats look incredible. Love the Bogart. I feel guilty but I feel that might be a better buy than a CS Train hat....Decisions...decisions!

When I got home from work on Tuesday, there was a box waiting for me, and I knew it was my hat from David LLS. He had sent me an email the day before stating that it was on its way. I took out my pocket knife and carefully opened up the outer box to reveal a nice white box enclosed. Right then I knew there was something special waiting for me inside . When I opened the white box, it was just what I had asked him to make, the Idol Grab Hat. I quickly picked it up and placed it on my head. Even though it was new this hat felt like an old friend that I have been wearing for years.

I love the sweatband, it is soft and comfortable and conforms to your head quickly . The felt is soft and pliable and has no problem holding its bash, this is some fine felt that is surely only to get better with age .The pounce job is excellent and very smooth . The bash job is very skillfully done. The inside liner is hand sewn in and is a champagne color with the Staff of Ra. I really like this liner color, it looks more classy to me. The bow on the ribbon is nicely detailed with a great looking flying V . The construction and materials of this hat are first class. This hat is well put together and will survive many adventures of escaping Hovitos, being dragged under a truck, or whatever else comes our way.

David’s skills, knowledge and customer service at making hats are superb.

Thanks LLS for making this hat that I know I will enjoy for many years to come.

I went to their web page and I see Standard Raiders style and Streets Of Cairo, but nothing about "Idol Grab" style. What's the story on that?

This is a rabbit felt. Just ask David and he will make your hat any style that you would like.
I have had this hat a few years and it looks even better now.
You can't go wrong with one of Davids Hat's :TOH:

Georgia Steves' hat is made of rabbit felt.
When I was devising the categories for the Raiders hat, I used the terms "Standard" and "Streets of Cairo". The SOC is self explanatory. The "Standard" has a few subsets to it. Basically defined by certain scenes, ie. the Idol Grab hat. The "Idol Grab" hat has a few differences to it as compared to the Raven Bar hat". The FAQ under this fedora section explains a lot of the little nuances of the hat and I could lock down the internet with a pictorial explaining scene hats. Simply put, the "Standard Raiders" features the turn. The hat we all know and love had this feature that makes the unique look of the Raiders hat. There are hats that were not turned and I bash that style, too. But just like the amount of screen time in the movie, those are less popular. I have a turned hat and an unturned hat for my self, so I can mix it up.

What he said! I went for a Garrison Standard Raiders and asked that I get just a stereotypical Raiders hat. When it arrived there was NO QUESTION what this hat was. It was exactly as I asked and it screamed Indiana Jones, more specifically ROTLA. Now that its been worn and sweat in, it has taken on some character in the brim and bash and has only begun to look better. Like a true lived in Indy hat. Couldnt be more pleased. So if you dont want a specific scene he does that too. I highly recommend it!

Well, after a few months of sporting my Garrison Raider, it's morphed into more of a Crystal-Skullish bash as I've let the crease flare down rather than tightening it to keep it sharp.

To be honest, I think I like this shape a bit better than the sharp crease of the Raiders lid.

Image

Funnily enough, a couple of my mates have started calling it my "Tom Baker" hat rather than Indiana Jones.

Pyrodigital wrote:Having owned both an Akubra & a Garrison, there's no comparison. I live in the PNW & get rained on a lot--no issue w/ the blockshape changing at all. I simply pop the bashes out, stick the hat jack in & let it dry slowly. Then rebash once completely dry. Occasionally I reapply some Scotchgard.

I also rolled it up in my carry on when I went to India (just got back) & it took it just fine. The soft sweatband makes it easy & the stitches will hold just fine (David uses very strong thread). Got dumped on in Agra (buckets--very unusual for this time of year as it's the dry season over there now) but as usual, no issues. :D

You won't be disappointed!

I would have never considered poping out the bashes if it got wet?
is this what should be done?
is there a reason?
I would have thought to let the hat dry with the bash.

Throw me into the ring for awaiting a new Garrison, too (my second).

Ordered it back in April, so it's been a bit of a wait. David has been pretty good about keeping me in the loop when I inquire, and to be fair, the delays have been due to circumstances beyond his control, and it's a very custom lid (definitely non-Raiders). So no worries.

Based on his latest e-mail this weekend, sounds like he's just about got it wrapped up. So close, I can taste it.

I will definitely post pics.

Here's a quick snap of my new Garrison (I'll have to get better pics soon).

It's based on an eBay find that I didn't win (but saved the pics of, because I fell in love with it). The color is a little deceptive in the photo. It's a very deep midnight blue. Depending on the light, it can look VERY blue or black.

I had the measurements of the hat and passed them on to David. I was initially a bit nervous about the crown height -- and it *is* a tall hat. However, after putting it on, I love it. I definitely get a full on G-Man vibe from it.

(The material is rabbit, by the way.)

THANKS DAVID!!!

I received my second Garrison a few days ago. It’s one of his newest offerings, the Temple of Doom hat. David has done a wonderful job recreating this hat that we’ve all seen in the movie.
There’s not a lot more I can say or add about the quality and the amount of detail that David puts into these hats that he makes that has not already been said. It looks and fits great, just like my Raiders hat that is now three years old.
They are made of the best materials, great craftsmanship, and will last a lifetime. :D

Thank you LLS, :TOH:

Here it is!

My latest Garrison Hat. I found this on etsy and thought the color could be a good fit for a ROLA Clipper Fedora. I sent the link to David and he agreed it could work. I made the purchase and had it sent directly to him for a reblock.

Starting it's life as a western hat David told me it was super stiff and the felt is much thicker than any other fedora I own.

Here's how it started it's life:

The listing provided this information

And after:

This is now my official travel hat. It's finally getting cool enough here I can switch from my PB straw to felt hats.

My third Garrison and another home run!

Very nice! David is a mad scientist. That hat reminds me of a few things. One being a "G Man" of the 30s. Perhaps even a late western character of some sort. Where the hats get smaller but still maintain that untamed rawness of the old west. If you catch my very obscure drift. Ive often thought of sending David a cowboy hat to reshape, if he were to be up to it.

I just today received my 'wabbit' 'Short Round,' as I call it -- 'TOD' from David! I don't know what to say, so I will just share the response I sent him to confirm the arrival of my hat to his email address. (Before anyone posts "Worthless Without Pictures!") I will see what I can do. I have a new friend at work who understands this 'picture-posting-stuff' and I will talk with him about shots and posting. Anyhow, here is the response I sent David. Trust me -- if you like the 'TOD' look -- this is THE HAT!

________

David: Words cannot express how pleased I am with this hat! Arrived today. Boxes, Hat, etc. all in perfect condition -- fit perfectly right out of the box and with a twist here and a twist there, I am transformed back to 1935 and "The Temple of Doom!'' I know I've said it once...and, I've said it twice -- so now -- here's thrice -- this is truly how my mind pictures the 'TOD' hat to be, look, feel, etc. Words fail me on the unique quirkiness this hat possesses. Only an hat maker or true fan of the 'Indy' films would understand this, of which I can't seem to find the words for! I mean, it just screams 'Temple!' Best rendition I've seen and I am extremely impressed with the felt -- first look, I thought it was beaver! I owe you one buddy! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and blessings from within, as well! W>

This hat looks great in all lighting but in natural sunlight it is a real head turner. LOTS of compliments and a few offers! David you need to toss in a stack of business cards with each hat haha. I already gave the two away.

People ask where I got it in the park and are not happy when I say it is a custom and not available here haha. They keep asking where I got the real Indy hat and why the one they just bought 5 mins ago looks like doo doo.

I've ordered a Garrison Standard hat, few days ago. I'm very excited. \:D/

I already have a Garrison secondhand, bought a few month ago, but slightly oversized for me ...
It's a very, very nice hat, excellent work from David Garrison...Great quality of the sweatband, lovely color and quality felt.

I can't wait to receive my new one :D

Since it was oversized, I wonder if you could have saved a little money by having Dave rework your existing hat rather than ordering a new one?

Just a thought. :-k

Dave does GREAT reblock work, let me tell you. He redid my 'Ford' felt AB, and it's a perfect job. :M:

It's true, Michaelson... But it's just the pleasure to have another one, and completely new...
