Hi I'm very interested in this jacket. I would like a warm jacket for California winters (not too cold and not snow but chilly for sure), would this leather be thick or warm?

....er....its thick and heavy like a parka.

These jackets are not insulators, thin liner, so if around the SF area, layering with a sweater or fleece might be the way to go. A typical Indy jacket, size M-L will weigh around 3-4 pounds, and .8 to .9 mm thick, depending. Todd's in Pine Mountain would be a good choice if you like an accurate lamb jacket.

I'm quite fond of mine. They do layer quite well with a sweater vest when cold weather comes around....but as TS says, NO leather is an insulator against cold. It's made to protect you from wind, and the insulation inside is what keeps you warm.

That said, it's still a very comfortable jacket.....but that said, I DID have my lining replaced for cotton. I'm not at all a fan of the slick lining myself.

Yep, I'm sure the cotton liner helps more than the slick ones but I have to say the Mystery of the Blues outfit works well too

Boy, we are a lot alike! I just like the way that the cotton liners fit against the fabric of whatever I am wearing. From shirts, to sweaters, etc. Just has a better fit, feel, etc. However, I do have 2 GB 'Raider's:' Black Goat and the Brown Cowhide, and for this style -- I do prefer the 'slicker' lining! I think they would be too bulky with a heavier lining -- but -- open to suggestions on this ! W>

G&B's linings are a lot better. I have had no issues with theirs. It's the Wings version I've always had problems with. They're more like silk, and that is a great material to pull over long sleeve shirts and the like....but also allows the jacket to slide all over your shoulders when not zipped up.

I've told David this in the past too.

The G&B's don't do that.

Anyway.....

Are you in the SF Bay Area? I always found lamb too light for even our mild winters, actually, epsecially on the coast. If you're looking for a warm jacket, this would not be it.

If you are in the SF Bay Area, you should come out to one of our whip crackin' get togethers! And if you do, you can see various jackets including: US Wings 30th Anniversary Lambskin in Medium, a US Wings kid sized cowhide, possibly a US Wings US made striated lamb (if that guy is there that day).

No actually more central Cali.
Some jackets I've had had lining in between layers which made them pretty warm.
