"The Olof is Way Off" was originally a song by the Andrews Sisters during the opening volleys of WWII in opposition to the sentiments of Congressman Olof.

Olof was opposed to the United States entering the war and A. Sisters were commissioned (as part of a propaganda campaign) to ridicule the congressman with song when the attack on Pearl Harbor made it all moot.

I once got one with an untrimmed brim and I can see how someone would miss that extra 1/8" in measuring if they didn't know about it or look for it carefully enough.

After being knocked around, and with its propensity for shrinking, an untrimmed HJ is going to end up at 3" very quickly in life.

Just a technicality but Swales did correct me on the untrimmed brim width. And he said that the YIJ was untrimmed, etc.

Funny though, seeing such a cool hat to begin with on the show and then such a mess later on in the series. That is out of control.

If Its a hat, it is trimmed. He might have meant that the YIJ hat is un-trimmed compared to the others.

Darthjones: thanks for clarifying that for me..

Bending Oak: The hat started out as a bit large for me and eventually became tight where it was almost uncomfortable to wear. I can get it on my head but I don't like the
shrinkage of it...

I wish I hadn't let it blow off my head that day...

Oh, right on. What he meant was that it came to HJ from the factory as 3 1/8". He was saying, yes, that no one in the shop trimmed it down further. Correctomundo!

I know we are talking a 1/8 of a inch but the details is what we do here. ;) I was told 3" not 3 1/8. Can you ouble check the brim and measure it from the top with a yard stick so it flattens the brim.
