Ben, I don't mean to go even further off-topic, here... but, I just wanted to say that I really like your new (to you) Tony Nowak Crystal Skull jacket and that it looks great on you and I'm really happy for you and Congrats and stuff...
Oh, wait...
I guess that isn't off-topic...

Well, I don't know how cold it gets in Japan in winter, but BELIEVE me, you'll enjoy the extra length of those sleeves when a cold winter wind comes your way. Been there, done that, love the length myself.fifthchamber wrote: Just the sleeves were too long and those have now come up and end at the first knuckle of the thumb....So..Reduced well enough I think..

Haha..Thanks Fox...Appreciated Sir..(You know I think the O.G. Indy you do is brilliant too...So, compliments returned + some!!)
And Michaelson, yes...Agreed..While the jacket has been shrunk marginally, it's still longer than I'd have chosen if I wanted a "perfect fit" perhaps? My Hero is that, the Todds in the photo above is that, but this Nowak is still a touch longer....I see that in the film too..Sometimes by a fair degree, sometimes by less, but always a longer, bigger, less "fitted" jacket the fourth time out...Michaelson wrote:Well, I don't know how cold it gets in Japan in winter, but BELIEVE me, you'll enjoy the extra length of those sleeves when a cold winter wind comes your way. It's just gotten cool here in Japan...Summer is now OVER..And the breeze is lovely..I've been wearing the jacket about, as it's only 25 degrees now at lunchtime, and far cooler in the mornings, and it's a lovely way to dress...The wider sleeves also mean more air gets into the sleeves, so it cools out a little quicker than the Raiders I own...
Come winter, Tokyo will probably sink to about 0 degrees, sometimes marginally less...Not severe by any stretch, but yes, the thicker skin will be perfect for that (I did it last year with the Todds..So..), and warmer than I'm used to....So, entirely..I'm glad for the length...
Despite everyone's ideas about how to help, (Much appreciated though it is) I don't find the jacket too big, nor the hat too tall for me to wear as is...And that, essentially, is what matters...Film sizing also means little to me, since I'm most definitely NOT Ford..LOL..But, the hat was made by Steve, so I'd be more than confident in saying it's the "right size" for the Crystal Skull hat...
Thanks all...

Bottom line? Who cares what others think? Input is interesting, but it's your jacket and hat, and you like them as they are. Enjoy.

Thanks Michael! From a bloke as "close" as you, that's a rather high compliment Sir! warmly appreciated!
I'd meant to get more photos last weekend, but we had a bit of a typhoon and I was kept in all day, couldn't get out to the forest to take some decent shots..
I'll keep trying, maybe this weekend works better eh?
(I'll try and work on more than one look too...LOL... )

I've been wearing my TNO raiders during the morning while waiting for the boys bus for several weeks now! It is great to have such a lightweight jacket that I can do that but once the temps really drop I'll be reaching for my Legend for sure.

Hey, what goes around comes around right? Come January, I bet I'd gladly trade weather with ya.
In fact, do you need any house guests this winter?

Well, since all the most recent posts have been wiped out, I thought I would re-post these photos of my Nowak goatskin Raider's jacket I bought from Gorak.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
The jacket looks perfect on you.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
I am now proud the owner of the TNO Surrogates jacket - it is extremely nice, I've not stopped wearing it since I got it.

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Nice! I love how Tony's jackets have continued to find new owners. With relatively few numbers of each model, it is great when one of these finds someone who can wear it often.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
That Surrogates looks familiar! I am glad you are enjoying it!
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
haha yes ! I certainly am loving it. Will post a 'fit' photo when I get some time.

Ahh......That Surrogates looks great...
I've often kicked myself for not being Nick's size in jackets (and hats too actually)...
That's a brilliant design, and a lovely jacket..

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Hey, thanks Ray. I've had a few goatskin jackets. This is a whole different animal, so to speak. The Nowak goatskin is the softest I've ever handled. It is somewhat heavy, but really soft to the touch, somewhat like lamb, but much stronger. It does not have any of the vinyl-like qualities of cheaper goatskin jackets out there. It also distresses naturally, revealing a russet brown layer underneath. Nice stuff. The color from the sleeves to the front panel to the pockets is a bit inconsistent, which bugs me a little. But I can't complain too loudly.

Tony Nowak did an awesome job on this jacket. I didn't know Tony, but I wish I would have had the chance.

More details CRB!
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Well three have been procured through the good members here and in fantastic condition. The new CS is taking a but getting used to, it's perhaps a tad too big but then again the film version looks too big for HF anyway. I'd forgotten just how baggy the CS sleeves are - ridiculously so, I wonder why Tony designed them that way? They don't look so baggy in the film. May have to slim them down.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
The TNO Crystal Skull has taken a little getting used too - mainly as I felt it was a bit big (most of my other jackets are slim/more fitted). But that's just the style of the CS I suppose. When I took these photos I suddenly realised it doesn't look too big at all, it looks spot on. Just shows how the mirror can lie to you! I put the jacket in today for sleeve alterations though - they are just too baggy and I think taking an inch out of them will really improve the jacket.
Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Yeah, the sleeves would be annoyingly long for me too. I have to say the CS jacket is unappealing to me - pre-distressed, baggy, wide sleeves, square pocket flaps - I wish Bernie, the costume designer, had given Tony a better design or they had used a G&B for the film instead. Tony's Surrogates jacket on the other hands is just fantastic!

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Agreed. That's dead on to the design fit that Bernie/Tony made for Ford, so if you wanted one that was EXACTLY how it was worn in the film, you have it in this photo.CRB wrote:The TNO Crystal Skull has taken a little getting used too - mainly as I felt it was a bit big (most of my other jackets are slim/more fitted). My TN Crusade jacket bought to Hel Husto a few months ago,a very great leather jacket with SA distressing on the sleeves and the front stormflap, more than happy to wear this jacket now the summer is ended !
The jacket fits me like it was made with my measurements,a very soft cowhide leather with no grain and a nice chocolate color..

Re: Nowak Jacket Owners Thread
Most of them were on the left hand side in the lining. You couldn't miss it.
On MINE, though, I asked him to put it inside the inside pocket on that side, as the outside wording caused my jacket to 'gate' open.
Check inside the inside pockets if it's not obvious on the inside lining. It's a huge panel of embroidery. You can't miss it.
