Differences between jackets?
Okay, I see a few posts about the differences between Indy's fedora between movie, but I can't find any comparison between the jackets in the movies.
The closest I can find is RotLA's pockets don't have snaps, while the others do.
If there a comparison between jackets in the film some where?
:toh:

Re: Differences between jackets?
Huh? The Raiders pockets have snaps.
The biggest differences are in the back yoke and fit, however the KOTCS jacket was the only one made of cowhide, the others were lamb/sheep. (LC jacket looks a lot like cowhide but we've been assured it was sheep/lamb).
There are a host of details that are different, side pleats, collars, strap buckles/rings, pocket flap contours, linings, distressing... The challenge is there were multiple jackets used in each movie and they didn't always match each other, so you kinda need to specify which scene.
For me, the jackets have always been the most comlex to copy due to the cut and complexity of the pleats and fit as well as matching the hides used 30 years ago. Hats have fewer moving parts

There are differences in details. Study the main page for each jacket to get a better idea. That is a pretty good jumping off point:

Fair enough. Like I said, info is few and far between(at least, for me)Tibor wrote:Huh? The Raiders pockets have snaps.
Re: Differences between jackets?
As for snaps, the Last Crusade jacket had them on the wind flap, and the Raiders jacket did not. Maybe that's what you were thinking of...
Re: Differences between jackets?
Raiders Jacket was slim fit. ToD jacket was made longer, pockets were smaller...LC was loose fit,I guess. Wested offers LC/KOTCS Jacket which are identical if you take a good hard look,Wested website and movies.Todd´s Jacket gives an idea how the Raiders-jacket should look like.Minus striations..

You're kidding? There are threads about this all over the site.
The variations are fairly minor - it's essentially down to leather type, collar shape, pocket size, and snaps on the wind-flap or not.
Much of this stuff deosn't matter if you are trying to reproduce the look - since the look relies upon lighting, artificial distressing and the size and shape of the actor wearing it. As someone once said - not even Harrison Ford looks like Indy outside of the films.
The average person often thinks Indy wears an A2, but the fanatics argue over the shape of this collar and the size of this flap like Talmudic scholars debating nuances of the Talmud. How deep do you want to get into this subject?
Oh and you'll find a lot of opinion on the actual differences based on what's been written and what people subjectively see on screen.

Which of the movie jackets are you interested in? That should narrow it down. You are asking for answers that have required a great deal of personal research, experience, trial and error.

Re: Differences between jackets?
Not really interested in a specific jacket, I have a Lucasfilm Last Crusade I'm happy with. Just wondered what the differences are.

search and you shall find!

Consider yourself lucky not to know. Chances are you'd stop being happy with that jacket because of all its inaccuracies.curtishart wrote:Not really interested in a specific jacket, I have a Lucasfilm Last Crusade I'm happy with. Just wondered what the differences are.

Re: Differences between jackets?
Raiders is probably the most sought after, in here. My guess is that outside of the community, maybe the Cooper made Indy jacket that was sold right after Last Crusade was probably the all time biggest seller, because it was mass marketed.
