Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Thank you Texan Scott for referring me to your above post on specs. I have since carefully read through this thread and started compiling specs for my future LC jacket. I appreciate all of the insight from everyone in this thread.

No problem, post 'em when you can!
Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
You LC fans should keep your eyes open for my next LC. I will use the same set of specs I used before but with some minor pattern tweaks to make it even more SA. Oh, and thick brown lambskin will be the skin. trying to get as SA as possible!

Where are you planning on acquiring "thick brown lamb skin" Holt? I'm looking for the same

But have you been remembering the lotion? Remember, it not only has to be thick, but buttery soft
It puts the lotion on its skin!

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
I've also compiled a pretty good list for LC specs, and I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger with Wested (hopefully by week's end). I just have a few questions for the experts out there...
First, I have lots of specs for the LC jacket particulars (pockets, collar stand etc.) but how should I be measuring my body for the LC look? I have a US wings SL legend to use as reference, I guess, but I don't want to end up with the same "tight" 80s look from Raiders, right? I'm a smaller guy, but lift a lot and carry a lot of bulk on a small frame...should I try to compensate? Should I measure loosely around my chest, add an inch or two for the back? I haven't dealt with Wested since I ordered my first Raiders in like 1997 as a 10 year old...
Which brings me to my other big question: what is the best way to deal with Wested and a very custom order like this? I mean, I don't want to just slam them with a huge list of demands, right? I've heard time and again about all of the issues with getting our spec wishes met at Wested. I have faith in Peter, but I understand that it can be difficult to try and match all of these minute demands....I really have no idea how to go about this....emails? Calls? Both?
Anyway, I really appreciate all the help, guys. Hopefully I will soon have a fairly to very good Wested LC in my hands

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Pretty simple. Just give them your exact measurements, like chest width, sleeves and back length, maybe even around the waist, with a tape measure, along with your specs. The LC jacket is cut differently than the Raiders jacket in the first place. It is a more "correct" fitting jacket and more of a relaxed fit.

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Good news, Tex. Glad I don't have to do any fancy measuring.
I guess you guys just enter all of the extra specs in the "Special Requests" field during checkout? I guess I'm just a little hesitant to fill that one text field up with like 12+, detailed, extra spec requests. Hopefully will get the majority of them incorporated!

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
So, still laboring over the specs that I'm getting together to send to Wested, adn I've got one spec related question if anyone would be so kind as to help me out:
Regarding the yoke/back panel of the LC jacket, one of the specs that I wrote down was "v-taper on back panel." Does anyone know what this actually means?
I'm assuming its referring to the taper evident on the top seams of the back panel running at a forward taper toward the collar from the seams? I'm actually fairly clueless here...
Thanks fellas

...would mean that it tapers to the waist. The top of the pack panel is wider than at the end of the jacket. LC does not have a sewn bottom hem.

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
I just received my custom Last Crusade jacket from Wested and I wanted to share it with all of you. I think I drove Gemma a little crazy with all my requests but I am very happy with it. I went with the Novapelle Copper Brown. It is a heavy cowhide that I am very pleased with. Let me know what all of you think. Thanks

No dissention amongst this rank, as copper novapelle is one of my favorite hides that he offers. You did a good job on the specs as well! A little break in time, train that collar and you're there. Enjoy it!

Awesome looking jacket, DiCatania! I really like your specs a lot. Might I ask which specifications you requested? As well, did you email or call to request them? I, sadly, have yet to place my order as some other financial needs popped up in the past few weeks, but I still intend to place my order soon.
Again, great looking jacket!

Yes the pocket is deep. I couldn't be happier with this jacket. Wested really hit a home run with This one. After looking at the front view picture of me in my jacket, I need to go on a diet.

Hey Trigger, from what I can see there that is a nice looking LC in lamb! Is that custom spec'd or OTR? Relatively new? Any impressions about the thickness of the hide? Good LC look too

Not to tease too much, but just received notice that my custom Wested LC has shipped and should be delivered early next week. I cannot wait to finally receive my first LC jacket!
Pics and specs should follow shortly (as long as it doesn't turn out terrible!).

Get ready for a $27.00 import fee from the government to be paid to UPS when your jacket arrives from Wested. Just FYI. UPS had to come back the following day because I wasn't aware of it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess I'll try to have $27 cash on hand for them...not going to be home though. I guess I'll probably just have to pick it up anyway.

My latest jacket (not an LC though) will arrive on Monday and the order was processed on 8th May..so their turnaround really is pretty good at the moment.

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
The import fee isn't always applicable either, so while it's a good idea to expect it perhaps, there's a fair chance you'll not be charged anything...
I've ordered three Wested jackets, and only one came to Tokyo with that fee to pay (2000 yen more or less I think)...So I would think it depends on the delivery guys and your own luck more than being a set standard fee to pay....
Regards..

So, you were right about the "COD" fee. $25.30 to be exact. The worst part is the method of payment - no CC, no cash, only certified check or money order. They don't tell you beforehand what the fee is going to be, so how on earth would I have been able to receive my package without first visiting the bank or PO??
Hopefully, though, I'll have my new jacket this afternoon.

I forgot that I had to run to Walmart for a money order. You don't know the amount until they try to deliver the package. It is very unorganized. It's not Wested's fault it's our lovely government putting out their dirty hands for more. You must post pictures when you do receive it.

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Weirdly, the rule here is completely the opposite, when receiving a parcel for overseas, I've had the postman ask to payment in cash only, but the exact amount, as they don't carry change. They couldn't take a credit card and I think wouldn't take a cheque either, not that I had a cheque book to hand. Often when I've had money to pay they have sent me a letter with the amount payable and a website to pay. Once paid it gets delivered the next day. Sorta being held hostage until you cough up.DiCatania wrote:I forgot that I had to run to Walmart for a money order. You don't know the amount until they try to deliver the package. Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
determined. once i lose 50 pounds ill order a custom Wested LC. pretty sure LC. my body isnt "tapered" like the ROTLA jacket haha
Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
I am pretty sure that I want my Indy jacket to be of the Last Crusade style. I really don't like the look of the jacket used in Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, but to my understanding...they are the same? They don't look the same in the movie, at all.
I am not very knowledgeable about the different leathers used on these jackets, but the KOTCS jacket looks like it's that "pre-distressed" version? It looks like it just came from a department store at the mall & I don't like that look.
Now, the look of the jacket in the Last Crusade has a great look. To me, the best pictures of the jacket are when Indy and Henry Sr. are on the motorcycle having stopped to argue whether to go to Berlin or go get Brody. I like that the jacket has a "natural worn in" look to it; at times it almost looks kinda "rusted" around the edges...slightly reddish brown at the worn in areas.
I also like that in the movie along the scenes where you can see the jacket well, it does not have a "grainy" texture to it. I don't care for a leather jacket looking like the backside of an alligator or some other reptile with all that "grainy" texture running all over it.
Please help me understand the kind of leather that is used by Wested (I am thinking Wested is the best place to order the Last Crusade jacket from) on the Last Crusade jacket.

Take a stroll through this read: http://indygear.com/igjacket-LC.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The basic difference is that the LC jacket was lamb, and CS was cowhide. The LC jacket has often been mistaken for cowhide because the leather looked thick.

Holt is a MASTER at jacket distressing. Look what he did to his Last Crusade jacket....pretty sure its stolen from the archives but I will take his word that it's not. Absolutely identical to the real thing. I plan to take a page out of his book when I get one. Definitely to back a few pages and give it a gander.
Cant believe I forgot KT Templar! His is fantastic as well!

Agree about the leather. The LC jacket looks pretty different to the CS to me. The pockets on the LC are so square and have such big flaps, whilst the CS pockets look like a US Wings jacket - long pocket with fairly shallow flap. The CS jacket is an okay pattern but the leather chosen looks like predistressed leather which I dislike.

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Also, the CS jacket looks to be more of a hybrid jacket, a combo of Raiders and LC specs. There was nothing in it that interested me much, hence I never bought one. Sorry, but it looks like a fan repro in cowhide to me. But for LC, they changed the specs some, added snaps and even the pattern deviated from the Raiders jacket, while keeping true to the overall Indy look.

Change "LC" to "CS" and you're essentially describing the CS jacket, "different from Raiders, but keeps the overall vibe."Texan Scott wrote:But for LC, they changed the specs some, added snaps and even the pattern deviated from the Raiders jacket, while keeping true to the overall Indy look.
So do his hat, shirt and trousers for that matter.

Ill agree with the above guys in while it is the "indy look" its definitely not the indy feel. The goofy hat and costumey jacket just dont get the job done. He looks too polished. Like its a satirization. The LC jacket definitely gets the job done, I cant wait to get one.

How wide should the collar be all the way around? 3 1/8"?

Re: The Last Crusade jacket repro. thread...
Apologies if the point of this post is redundant, but when I was learning about the ways the LC jacket differs from Wested's LC/CS hybrid, I was curious to see pictures illustrating how the key details were different. There have been plenty of photos showing custom spec'ed jackets overall, so I knew some close scrutiny or blowing up would tell me what I wanted to know (what, for example, does the single-stitched shoulder seam look like?) but I thought it would be good to have some side-by-side comparisons to show at-a-glance.
I've had a standard LC/CS for a while. Recently, I went ahead and got a custom LC from Wested so, for the benefit of others like myself, here is an example of what I would have liked to have seen (sorry if such pictures have been posted already - I didn't see them)
Obviously, this shows the single-stitched shoulder seam versus the standard's double-stitch, and also the back arm seam being single-stitched versus the Raiders-like seam on the standard.
