I just received the new hat and it is absolutely perfect, somehow even more absolutely perfect than the first absolutely perfect version from 2008, which is a little too big for me but otherwise absolutely perfect and beautiful in every way.

I had not realized his current situation and feel very bad for wondering where it was or why it was taking so long.

I plan on wearing this everywhere I go and recommending his services to everybody I meet who might ask. Although today somebody said to me "nice walking dead hat"
lol

anyway, now having read that story I'm perfectly fine with waiting another decade or 2 for the other 2 hats as long as Steve is okay.
I don't even really mean the decade part with any sarcasm, he really is that good at what he does and I really do wish him the very best.
it's worth the wait.

Day 5 with my new AB. It's been through rain and a disgusting snowstorm (NYC can be just as tough on a hat as any jungle or desert) -- and it looks better than when it arrived. The bash / pinch on the hat when it arrived were a bit loose for my taste (probably relaxed a bit during shipping?) so I've been working with it a bit every day to tighten it up. I decided to take a few photos tonight so I thought I'd add them here. I think it's just about perfect now though, so I'm going to try and leave it the #### alone.

Also, my girlfriend is already sick of me explaining the specific idiosyncrasies that make this a Raiders fedora.

I love this hat!

Michael, that's among the sharpest-looking Raiders fedoras I've seen on here in ages! Steve certainly hasn't lost his touch--if anything, it's better than ever!

DAVIDUGLY, that is a great looking Crystal Skull fedora! I particularly like the shape of the front pinch on it.

Has anybody been able to get a hold of Steve lately? I sent some emails regarding the status of my fedora and haven't heard back in about a week. I was wondering if anyone knew if he was out of town or something

Thanks!

I'd hazard the guess that just because he's made the effort to write an update here, there's been no real reason to decide to be any more active on the email side of things...Which, in all honesty, does take more time than writing responses to everyone here (at once)..

I suspect he's fine, working away, recovering and the same as always...But nothings changed in his emailing patterns...

I hope so.

I've had a couple emails back and forth with Steve in the last few weeks, same old address still works.
My new hat showed up this week too, so I know he's busy in the hat shop!

Hey Bruce,

I ordered it about two and a half months ago, when Steve started his thread in the vendor section and asked for a few new orders to help finance things. It was 8 weeks to the day that he shipped it out, took a couple weeks to get across the border, which is pretty normal for regular mail.

That was around the time I ordered my Raiders hat but haven't heard of anything yet (ordered about 11 weeks ago). If anyone hears from him, please let us know. I sure hope he's ok

I heard from him earlier this week regarding my upcoming hat order (regarding the addition of "Dr." in front of my name on the sweatband), so he's still hard at work. Hope this helps bring a bit of relief regarding worry!

My AB Raider in rabbit arrived today! :D

Here's a pic of it on my G&B goatskin Expedition, to give some sense of its color. I would say the color of the hat in this photo is closer to reality than how dark it appears in the photos below with my other, faded, CS AB:

Image

Here are some pictures of it next to my Adventurebilt CS in beaver from 2008. I've worn that CS AB very hard for 3 seasons of excavations in Israel and also nearly daily wear. It's been reblocked once, and is now the dimensions of the one slightly shorter and wider-brimmed AB that was in some of the jungle scenes of CS. I like having these two hats as not only different Indy movie styles, felts, and dimensions, but also different shades of brown:

Image

Image

Image

Image

As for when I ordered, I know it was around the time I ordered my bespoke doctoral robes, since it was part of the same gift. But with all the variables in hatmaking for different sizes of blocks, materials, other customers not on the boards, etc., etc., I think trying to track down dates confuses more than clarifies. In any case, despite being a customer from far enough back that I might have qualified for a discount as Steve had mentioned once upon a time on these boards years ago, I offered to and did pay full price, both to help Steve after his medical condition, and also in the hopes that the cash flow would help for other customers. But let's get back to the hats before this veers off-topic.

I'm very happy with how my hat turned out! I like the dimensions, shape, texture, color, height, perfect fit, etc. I'll try to write a more thorough review later, but I'm very satisfied with this so far!!!

Wow! And, I thought your degree alone, was impressive! That is one outstanding 'Raider' if I ever saw one! Almost looks like you 'borrowed' one from the set of 'ROTLA!' Congrats again! And, thanks for showing us what is like with the person underneath! Better then just your basic 'hat shot! :TOH: ' W>

ps: After all, it is the person within the hat -- that makes the hat ;) ! W>

One of the advantages of getting the Ph.D. is we can wear a velvet tam instead of a mortarboard. ;) But I've already gotten some requests for pics with the fedoras and doctoral robes.

Thanks, Jeff, Strider, and Michael!
