I've worn my Garrison practically every day for over a year, in all weather and humidity and it's still going just as strong as it was the day I got it. I'm not exaggerating when I say every day, I mean every day. People I occasionally see (kid's sports events and whatnot) have come to associate me in with the hat; to the point they have commented something along the lines of, "I know it's you from across the park because of the hat."

I put photos and links in this thread a little earlier if you want to see how it's held up.

I don't see how you could go wrong with one of David's hats.

Having owned both an Akubra & a Garrison, there's no comparison. I live in the PNW & get rained on a lot--no issue w/ the blockshape changing at all. I simply pop the bashes out, stick the hat jack in & let it dry slowly. Then rebash once completely dry. Occasionally I reapply some Scotchgard.

I also rolled it up in my carry on when I went to India (just got back) & it took it just fine. The soft sweatband makes it easy & the stitches will hold just fine (David uses very strong thread). Got dumped on in Agra (buckets--very unusual for this time of year as it's the dry season over there now) but as usual, no issues. :D

You won't be disappointed!

I've decided that Garrison is going to be my next Indy fedora. SOC version. I've owned a Fed and sold it recently, so I'm lacking a good fedora.

Of those that have ordered the Bogart style, are there anymore pics out there of them?

I was just e-mailing with David about a hat and he mentioned there's good things to come with his Bogart line. I don't want to say too much for fear of stealing his thunder.

I, however, have an Indy related "special order" with David that I can't wait to see how it comes out!!

im no expert but thats probably what mine will be like too. i asked for the standard Raiders turn and basically a "stereotypical Raiders look". I feel like the waterfall captures that very well. mine arrives Wed...gonna sleep all day tomorrw since im off to make time go faster haha

I think the main difference between standard Raiders and the Waterfall Hat is that the waterfall hat didn't have the turn of the brim. It's the only hat in Raiders that didn't have that feature, if I've read previous topics correctly...

Excellent! Hat looks great, I'm expecting mine tomorrow.

You should take some pics with it outdoors when you get the chance.

IIRC you needed the hat by April 4th, right? :-k It's cool how that worked out in your favor... though looking at the times between your order and today, it looks like you beat the usual time by a LOT!

First out of the box, the first thing that struck me about the Garrison is just how good the felt was. Now, I've heard quite a bit about high-quality felt and how strong and tough it could be, yet still be soft to the touch. It appears a bit darker than I expected, though I've read all about how color fades a tad during the first year of wear; I'm not worried a bit. I'm looking forward to enjoying this sturdy, high-quality hat for years to come.

The sweat band. I've had several hats before this, and in just about every case the sweatband was tough, stiff leather. Not the Garrison. This is luxurious by comparison, and oh-so-soft. The name on the inside to signify that it is MY custom hat was a nice touch.

I'm actually pretty excited about the Staff-of-Ra liner. Back when I first started looking around at different hats, I saw AB liners with this logo and was disappointed to find out that they no longer had that design. It Identifies it as "Raiders of the Lost Ark" by tying the hat to yet another iconic part of the movie, which is a nice touch. :TOH:

And the best part, and most important (for me): the shape of the hat. This is spot on what I was looking for. I went out to run some errands this afternoon, and as I was passing a window I saw the reflection of the hat on my head, and I got this big goofy grin. It's just... perfect!

Really good job on this one! :D

Hi, I'm new here, & thought I'd post in this thread first. I just ordered a Garrison ROTLA hat about 2 weeks ago. I'm REALLY EXCITED about getting it! I've talked to David via e-mail several times already, & he seems like a really nice guy! I've been debating for quite awhile about what hat to get. I was thinking about ordering a Akubra Fed. IV, but I'm actually in between standard hat sizes. I'm a member on another forum, & was reading a thread on different vendors for Indy style hats, & Garrison Hatters came up. I decided to check David's site out, & was impressed with what I saw, so I decided to contact him. He responded back promptly to my inquiry, & after talking to him a bit, decided that ordering a custom fit hat was really the way to go. If you really think about it, by the time you add shipping cost to an Akubra, it's only about $15 dollars less than one of David's hats! To me it's definitely worth a little more coin for a custom made hat! David said it'll probably be about 1-2 months wait time right now. CAN"T WAIT to get my Garrison hat! It's DEFINITELY going to be WORTH THE WAIT! I'll be sure to let everyone know here when I get my hat! :)

I'm new to COW, but I'm a lifelong Indy fan. I'm seriously considering a Garrison Raider but I'm having a hard time deciding between an AB, Penman, and Garrison. Garrison seems to have the best price point, Penman has great follow-on service, and AB is...well...AB. I'm also more partial to the CS or LC style than Raiders, but only slightly. It would be great if any of you could offer advice. Also, from the post history, it seems a lot of you have multiple hats. Any chance you could send some side-by-side photos for comparison?

Cheers,

There's no specific reason why it wouldn't "take" a different crease. However, it may not look 100% the same as a hat blocked on the CS block. Of course, the caveat applies that if the hat already has the Raiders tight pinch, you'll have a definite impression in the felt left where that tight pinch was.

I say it will have a relaxed Raiders look. My block for the Raiders hat is way different from the CS block. The center dent will be a little deeper than the CS bash. It will look like the publicity shot at the riverfalls from the beginning of Raiders. The front will have a wider look to it with the pinch relaxed.
