I know this question has probably been asked before but I ran through nine pages of post and never saw an answer to my question. I'm going to a major show in a couple of weeks and want to buy the closest gun to the one used in LC. What exactly is the model and caliber should I buy to get close to SA?

The WG. You can see the birds head grip when he hands the Webley over to the guard in the Knight's Temple, as well as other scenes in the film.

If you find one be ready to pay at least $1,500.00 plus. A nice one will go for around $3,000.00.

I believe the WG is for "Webley Government" Army model that was sold to the public. Green didn't have anything to do with the model.

Ah. I just say it because it was on the tag when i got mine years ago. Sold it never knowing it was an Indy gun. DOH!

Its interesting how things just seemed to fall together in just the right way in Raiders, vintage vehicles, clothes and even guns, but I thought that the S&W mod. 1917 model was just the right gun for Indy, especially in that film.

trdaggers (Gailen) if you don't have luck at the show try http://www.gunbroker.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, you can look up under Webley or look through their antique guns section. The Webley WG model was made apprx. 1880-1912. Everybody is right they are expensive but I think quite nice, you might score a nice one with some minor defects for around $600.00-$900.00 depending. If you'd like a non SA piece but still extremely nice and would've been available in Indy's time frame there's Webley MK VI which saw action in WWI and WWII and the Webley Pryse really neat gun. I've been in the hunt for Indy guns for quite awhile and I'm a bit of a history buff so if there's anything I can help with let me know, I might be able to track one down for you if you want.

I thought I'd share a look at the Webley Greener "WG" Army model I picked up today. It has an interesting brown wood (original) grip and bored as .476 Service Revolver

Very nice. I believe the ones with the flat butt handle and longer barrel are the "Target" version of the WG Army model. Search using target in the name to see examples.

Here's some detail I found: "The W.G. model (stands for "Webley Government", by the way, not "Webley-Green" as is commonly thought) was offered as an "Army" model or a "Target" model, but the various options (such as cartridge chambering, barrel length, grip shape, etc.) were all available on order on either "model".

Thanks, there is a shop specializing in antique and collectible guns and militaria not too far from here. Blazes of Glory is the name. They also do monthly auctions in house and on-line/absentee. I stopped in to look around and spotted this. It was an impulse buy. It was either this or the Walther PPK they had, tough choice, but Webley won.

I think you could take orders for half the forum!! They used to be everywhere 10 years back in the UK until laws changed and they vanished. You used to be able to buy them from Henry Krank an awesome WW2 catalogue. Good hunting!

I had an email with the name of a guy who works on the Webleys and had parts. I got his name from the shop that supplied the guns for CS. i'll see if I can dig it up.
