My bullwhips.

Post by Basil »

Howdy all!

I just joined this forum and thought I would say hi. Like all of you I'm a big fan of Indy, what I like the most are his bullwhips!

I have two whips from northern whip co that I'd like to show to you guys. First is a 7 ft whip made by joes son. I believe that this whip was among the first that he made. It gets the most use out of the pair. This is the pic that joe sent me. Image

Next is my 12 ft whip in natural tan. It's a crappy pic but I love this whip. It has only been used a few times. It's my nice weather and show off whip lol Image

Thanks for looking everyone and hope you guys enjoy!

Howdy and welcome Basil

Those Strain whips look great. That first one made by Joe´s son is a beauty. Good to see him carrying on a family tradition and doing it so well!

thank you!

The 12 foot i think will get some more cracking time this year. I still haven't fully broken it in ans its been almost two years since i got it.

The 7 foot was my first whip and was great to learn on. The plaiting isnt quite as tight as joes but still a wonderfull whip.

Those two whips are great, Basil! Joe is one of the best whipmakers in the USA. I noticed the whip in the first pic has a straight section beyond the transition knot. Is it stiffer at that point? It seems to bend beyond 2-3 inches from the handle.

Enjoy them!

Aldo.

I never noticed that in the picture. The transition is not stiffer it must be the way the whip was laid out for the picture.

Beautiful whips man!!! I have three whips made by Joe Strain; an 8' Raiders, a 12' saddle tan Indy, and a 10' Lonestar... Love them all!!!
