Penman Fedora
I am saving for a Penman fedora with a SOC bash, nice and boxy. Has anyone purchased one like this from Penman Hats and if so how do you like it. Photos welcome.

Re: Penman Fedora
Was this a dream or did John Penman say he was going to offer something "big" in 2013?
Re: Penman Fedora
Really just interested in pix of the Penman SOC fedoras. Any color.

Re: Penman Fedora
If you're asking specifically about the Cairo that John sells, yes I have one. In fact it's the hat pictured on his website. It's pretty much "what you see is what you get." It's an already outstanding hat which has been "treated" (as opposed to MIStreated) to make it appear like the hat you see onscreen.
Appearance aside, the hat is not beaten to within an inch of its life and feelks and wears no differently from a "non-Cairo" version of the same hat.

Not a dream. I have a few things I'm working on hoping to have them ready to go public this year but I think the one you mean is a Indy and yes I do and it is big or at least I'm very excited about it.

Wow. That boggles the mind because what you, Marc, and Steve do are already superlative. I mean, where is there to go?!!
Re: Penman Fedora
Simple deduction here..."Indy V" is 'Supposedly' in the works! Go, from there! W>darthjones wrote:Wow. That boggles the mind because what you, Marc, and Steve do are already superlative. I mean, where is there to go?!!

Re: Penman Fedora
I think it has something to do with the availability of a new grade of felt..............
Re: Penman Fedora
Could be...I don't know... I was just taking a 'fanciful concept' and throwing it 'out there!' Though I would qualify my 'thought' process on this one -- it seems that John would be the only 'right' option for such a project -- especially since, from what I understand, Steve doesn't want to work on a film project again. John's hats would certainly stand up to what we have come to expect from Steve's hats in "CS!" That 'hat' is about the only thing that truly saves the film ! Great hat, good jacket...film, well -- open to interpreation, I suppose. But, as 'they' (whoever -- 'they' are) say, it is an Indy film and I still love it warts and all! But, should there truly be an "Indy V," I would hope that the production people would consider John for the hats. Of coarse, he might have other ideas regarding such a project. Re: Penman Fedora
I would love to make Indy hats but I think that ship has sailed.
Re: Penman Fedora
Well, that is good news, because I do intend to place an order from you this year for a 'Skull' and even though I, more than likely, will not appear in any known movie to show it off, I am assured that the quality will be as good -- no, let me rephrased that -- better than 98% of what one usually sees on the big screen! Re: Penman Fedora
A new mix/ grade of felt could be interesting.
Maybe too another version of the SOC that is more "screwed up" with the brim break obliterated and ribbon scootched up?
But a felt that shows creaky contours like run of the mill rabbit might be cool.
Or a mercury hat?!
I still have no idea. And not prompting a response. I want the unveiling to be what it is intended to be but it's fun to guess in advance!
