Christmas Whip

I'm debating getting my first whip this christmas...I haven't been here in a long while and I don't know, especially, who the top dog is theses days concerning Indy's whip.

Can you guys save me a bunch of time and let me know who I should be looking at if money is not a problem...I want the best, most screen accurate and functional whip available.

The ones that are , in my opinion, the best as far as screen accuracy, quality, and functionality, are the following three Indy whips.

Joe Strain - northern whip co.
Paul Nolan and Lauren Wickline - Midwestwhips
Bernardo DelCarpio - delcarpiowhips

There's many others that make really good whips, but those are the top three as far as Indy whips go, in my opinion.

They're also all around the same price range ( Midwest offers a discount for us COW members on their Indy whips, not sure if the others do or not ).

Since cost is not an issue, shouldn't a David Morgan be considered?

I want the best, most screen accurate and functional whip available.

Unless he wants to buy a screen used whip ( I'm sure he's not willing to pay 40k+ ) then no. The David Morgan whips today are NOT made to be like the whips in the movies. They are made how David liked to make them, which changed over time. They are now made thicker than most appear in the movie, the ring knot is placed shorter, the wrist loop seems to be a little longer ( although that varied on all of them a bit ), etc. etc. They're good whips, there's no doubting that, but as far as screen accuracy goes, they're not the best choice.

I would have to agree, and add that if you want ultimate SA, Bernardo is the way to go. That said, Paul Nolan and Joe Strain make Indy whips that are about the most beautiful and highest quality around, but theirs tend to be "slicker" than Bernardo's, who aims a bit more for the rugged look and feel of David's work. So, I agree with Jeremy overall, that Bernardo, Paul and Joe are the top three.
