New Collar for the Gibson and Barnes

Post by Canasta »

Turns out, I have a high Ph balance in my skin which after time caused my GB collar to crack and get really nasty ... so much so that I could see the fabric between the layers of goat.
I sent the jacket to FLIGHTJACKETS.COM. They were able to put a new collar on for me.
The only reason I didn't send it back to GB is because I wanted to make the collar a bit more like the Nowak or Kelso, which GB can't do, due to licensing, so I drew a template using lots of pics from here and this is the result. They did a stellar job and you can't even tell where the old stitching was.
I couldn't be more satisfied.

Last year, I had these new buckles put on to change the straps too.

Great job. I wonder if that ph issue is common. Would it help to pecard the collar more often?

I have to say that they did a fantastic job of matching not only the color of the
leather, but the grain also!

Very nicely done!! If you didn't tell anyone, I bet it would be next to impossible
to tell the collar was ever replaced.

There is a saying that goes "You get what you pay for". And in this case,
you got as close to perfect as anyone could want to get!!
