December Whipcracking Practice in the park video

Post by midwestwhips »

Jorgen made the trip from Vegas to the Pahrump desert yesterday to join us for a December Whipcracking Practice Session in the park, and Lauren put together a quick video of some of the highlights. Here is the link to the youtube video:

http://youtu.be/lVELEIGSO8I

In the video you can see an array of cracks and routines including, but not limited to:

Cattleman's crack routine in balanced timing (Jorgen doing the two handed routine, the drum roll)
Slow figure 8's in various timing and combinations
Fine targeting work on both spaghetti and leaves
Volley's staggered and together timing
Long whip targeting
Blind Targeting on the bridge, AKA Targeting around a corner (where you can't see the target)
Staggered fast figure 8's
The coachman's crack
"The Each Way's," opposite slow figure 8's in Balanced timing (Lauren cracking with the leaves falling)
The Queensland Crossover
Changing Lead Hands Queensland Crossover
The Half Kahona

We had a great time, and also got to try out a few new whips including a new prototype I made of a line of whips coming soon (the whip used for the blind targeting), a prototype pair of extremely short 3ft Performance Hybrid whips (Lauren doing the staggered fast figure 8's), a nylon long handled bullwhip from Steph Normand of Whitenorthwhips, and a bullwhip that Jeremy "Riku1914" McEachern recently made. We had a lot of fun cutting leaves with both Steph's and Jeremy's whips, and below is a photo we took of the three of us goofing around with Jeremy's whip.

Paul, what I love about the service you are providing us enthusiasts is the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the creation and exercise in this craft. For many people, the opportunity to go "behind the scenes" of some of our favorite manufacturers of goods is a dream come true and also a once in a lifetime opportunity. What you provide is akin to the one-week training with master knife maker Gil Hibben. I have always wanted to take his class but the cost of the class in addition to room and board for a week would just be insanely ridiculous on my budget. Still, would be an amazing week.

I hope you continue to keep your doors open to whip enthusiasts and fanboys & girls for many years to come and thank you for your openness!

Happy Holidays!
