Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I got in touch with Wested and got some measurements back and I was told the Hero would be made to the measurements I send with the order, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the replies!

You have 40-41 inch chest and you wear 38 size jacket, which has 41 inches total in chest? It should fit like second skin, and from the pics I can tell it doesn'tKt Templar wrote:

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I think I have set my eyes on a new jacket!
I have this jacket allready but I didnt get the silk sleeves and I tell myself that is a reason alone for getting a new one! ( even tho the tailor is a few minutes away )

KT, when zipped, that jacket must be snug, right? I have a 38 inch chest, and I was considering going up to a 40.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I was out of the Wested Owners' Group for a while, but I'm back in now, having scored Tibor's size 46 Hero in seal brown lambskin. It looks brand new and fits beautifully, and the leather is luxurious. The sleeves are a tad too long but it's barely worth mentioning.
I had long considered a Hero for my next (and possibly last--hah!) jacket purchase and I couldn't pass this up. It's like it was made for me, at a third the cost. Thanks, Tibor! Pics coming...

Just how the Hero 46 differs from the standard? Just being curious...

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
On this pattern I had a 40 and it was too roomy for me (not to mention too long). I like the close fit when zipped, it has that 'miltary fit feel' and it kinda makes me think of the Raven bar jacket look. YMMV. I think the action pleats give you back a couple of inches on Indy jackets anyway.Forrest For the Trees wrote:KT, when zipped, that jacket must be snug, right? Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I normally fit a 46 Wested, and the Hero I got from them was a 46 as per....
Since then, I've added about an inch or so to my chest (in order to make a Nowak 48 work better on me) with benching and weights, and the 46 Wested now fits a lot better in my opinion...I showered it, and then dried it, and it's shrunk a touch with that, but that and the slightly wider size has worked wonders all in all..It's a really good shape now...
Not quite as close as KT's, but I tend not to like jackets that close to me anyway, I like a touch of room to move with, but it's a better fit like that..For sure...
It's a pleasure wearing now...

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I wear my dark brown lamb hero everyday and it's getting better and better with time. It's so soft, what I like the most is the collar and slim sleeves.
I hadn't got any better jacket. Well done Wested

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I just took a few "before" pics last night to help me remember what it used to look like. I'll do the water treatment in the next few days and then wear it and see what it looks like. Very impressed with this one as well. Thin like the old Todd's jackets, but specs are right on.
Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
There´s a jacket almost made for me...http://www.wested.com/hero-44-shrunken- ... -571-p.asp length is good and above all it´s size smaller! My old is 46 Long standard with same length sleeves but this is "Hero" and shrunken-brown-lambskin..how do authentic brown differ to the SBL...Hero is slimmer I believe, how´s the "room to move" on this one? similar owners please help

27'' in hero is pretty long. How tall are you? I'm 6' 3.5'' and I went with 25 inches back and it's great fit.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
Guys that are used to wearing slim or athletic cut jackets, etc., would not have a problem with the Hero. Of course, the authentic brown leather will be smoother in texture than shrunken. SL is also veg tanned. For around $300, considering your choice of leather, custom sized, and the details being vertually spot on, the Hero is about the best deal $/$ in the forum at present.MARQ wrote:There´s a jacket almost made for me...http://www.wested.com/hero-44-shrunken- ... -571-p.asp length is good and above all it´s size smaller! Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
Why don't all of the jackets available from Wested have the same selection of leathers in the drop down menu? I know that a few can only be made in the thinner hides, like the TOD, but why can't I choose the new lamb-touch cowhide or the brown cowhide KT is showing off when I make selections for a Hero jacket? I know I could send an email or call, but the website seems to be the most fool proof method of ordering.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
KT and others have the benefit of going there and sampling the leather personally. We do not always know all the leather they have onhand at any given time. There is nothing like being there. Takes the guesswork out of the "internet" order process.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I'm afraid it'd be too long. I've gone that path with ordering too long jacket and returning it for shorter one. I've ordered 26.5" back and it was longer than my old Rotla with 27" back. The pattern does the trick. If I were you, I'd go with 24" back.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I have the standard raiders size 40 regular. It's a snug fit when fastened but not tight. I think a size 42 in the hero would be better for me as from what I've read it's a tight fit. Anyone else found going up a size is better in the hero?

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I have 2 Hero jackets and both are my normal size and they fit fine. The jacket fits blousy in front, like the film jacket, so I see no need to go up one size.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I have two Westeds. My first was a size 40 dark brown lambskin. Good jacket, but a loose fit and I found the lambskin to be too light weight. My second is a size 38 authentic brown goatskin. The fit was better. I'm looking to replace both jackets with a Hero cut, and I'll probably stick with a 38 based on the discussions here. As to which leather, I can't decide at all. I really like that cowhide KT is showing off. Also, if they still have any dark brown goatskin in stock, I may go with that.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
I am really torn about my "Tibor Special" Hero. It's a beautiful, practically brand new jacket and it fits very well, but I'm hesitant to do anything to it in case I decide to sell it. My earlier post with pictures got nuked, so here are a couple again:
Nothing against Tibor or Wested, of course, but you all know when a jacket just doesn't "speak" to you... Part of my unease is the color; the majority is the uncertainty of how it's going to fit after I soak it.
That said, I just got a killer deal on a goatskin Hero, so I'll see if that is a little more satisfactory. (I'm also bidding on an XL Todd's, and I know I can't go wrong there.) And here I thought I was finished with the Jacket Quest.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
...received a Wested Hero in lambtouch hide and maybe its the TX-un in my, but I think I'm more of a cow-man than a goat-man, myself...bhaaa! I look like an oversized football, but I've always liked cowhide. Previous to lambtouch, the novapelle hides were too thick for a Raiders jacket. This one, however, is a Quality Dawg! There is some fine work coming outta that barn these days! Thing is...these straps will reach up and slap you in the face if you're not careful!
KT, can you pull some strings over there...? Put the heat on them, would you?

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
Here's that Quality Dawg in action....
Love the jacket! Just the right weight and thickness for a Raiders cowhide in lambtouch, save for these mutant straps that will reach up and do a person bodily harm. They almost touch, kinda like una straps. I've been using mine for a replacement bag strap..hehe. A snip or two by leather alterations will bring balance back to the universe once again. Hightly recommended!
Sometimes, you receive a jacket and you know from the first moment you try it on that it could not be any better. This one is a perect fit, and the leather sort of retains that dusty novapelle look as well.

Re: Wested's HERO jacket...
...it looks like my Hero! This one in lambtouch reminds me alot of the RoLA jacket that I received a few years ago in that it is the perfect fit. I do not know if it was purposeful or happened by accident, but I understand the reason for the off the neck design. It's just more comfortable that way. I frequently miss that feature with other 'real world' jackets and coats.

Wested's HERO jacket...
I love my hero. I've been layering up with it rather than wearing a winter coat, though I think there's only a certain amount of layering one can do with it and at -20 I think even Indy would have had to go back indoors!

I always loved that show, until they seemed to run out of script ideas.
All you ever saw was Captain Crane get in trouble, then something would attack the Seaview and you could see the walls rattle as everyone was thrown around.. Never thought steel was supposed to rattle like that.
Can't recall, but didn't they also add the front head light in the TV version, or was it on both?
Great old show, and the effects WAY ahead of their time!

If you can, do yourself a big favor,Pick up Seasons One and two. Season one is excellent!!Great writing great acting!
As a side note...Steven Speilberg also loved this show and Lost In Space , back in the 90's he tried to get the rights to both. He couldn't but made the inferior Seaquest and Earth 2.
By the way, I love the jacket!!
