Leather Creations
Hey all. I've been looking at Indiana Jones jackets on ebay and I've been thinking about upgrading to a new jacket. I found a UK seller on eBay called Leather Creations.

just wondering if any COW'ers have had any dealings with these guys or know anything about them

No action pleats. If you are doing an upgrade, I'd recommend a Wested Hero, since you are in the UK. This jacket (the one above) is 79 and the Wested Standard Hero is 185 in your choice of leather, made by the original maker. Due to the pattern tweaks, Peter's Hero is the most accurate Raiders jacket he has ever made, and customized. Might as well take advantage of it?

Also, another option would be a Todd's Standard. These are OTR sizes, and his newest version is on the relaxed fit side, through the torso and sleeves, but the leather is the best he has ever sourced, much like the film jacket (looks). Basic OTR sizes, but you can order from his website and save $20 (instead of Ebay):

Basically, $200 for an OTR vs $300 for a custom. Not a bad deal either way.

Don't walk. Run away from that jacket. I'm far from the most knowledgable guy around here when it comes to jackets and even I can see that one's not good. For no other reason, if the pictures are any indication of what you'll actually get, the sleeves are at least 4" too short. This is a case of "you get what you pay for." I can't imagine you'll be satisfied with that jacket.

Re: Leather Creations
the reason I was planning on that jacket is of course, I work, but I'm on low wages and that Leather Creations jacket looked to be a upgrade that was within my reach and better than the A-2 I'm using for a jacket right now. Looks like I'll try and save a little more and go for the Wested one. I'll be going to Memorabilia in November. Looks like I'll be snagging the wested one next paycheck

I can totally appreciate working within a budget. To me, that's all the more reason to invest a little more upfront to get the best value the first time out. Buying a jacket now that you're likely to have to replace, ultimately becomes wasted money.

What size jacket do you normally wear?Exulted Unicron wrote:the reason I was planning on that jacket is of course, I work, but I'm on low wages and that Leather Creations jacket looked to be a upgrade that was within my reach and better than the A-2 I'm using for a jacket right now. ...noticed your avatar, and was wondering if you prefer a LC jacket, if you are more of a LC fan? If so, Wested is one of the few vendors that make the LC jacket. These are also around the same price as the Hero. If you are looking for an accurate copy, you might start here, and begin doing some research. People are always willing to help, if you need advice on specs., etc.? The Hero is a reproduction of the Raiders jacket, while if you went for the LC look, you would need to order it with specs (a list of preferred measurements, etc) in order to get a better likeness.

Re: Leather Creations
I have a large size Flight Tech Inc A-2 Leather jacket. I bought it from a military fair years ago for about £120. The seller told me and had pictures to prove it.
People had found old Allied storage warehouses across Europe that had been locked up at the end of the war and were abandoned. Many of them still had weapons and ammo in, the others had supplies in like fuel and stuff. One warehouse had pallets and pallets of cigarettes that had remained untouched and unopened. The guy I bought my jacket off, he'd gotten his hands on a supply of A-2s from a USAF or USAAF warehouse that had been found in Poland. They were all cleaned up and restored and were being sold on.
As for the jacket, I'm saving up and I'm planning now on buying the Wested one. It'll save me a bit of money in the long run on shipping as I live in the UK and Wested is UK based.

Re: Leather Creations
Yep, that's the absolute truth.
About a year ago a supply of NOS never cut vintage goatskin turned up from one of those warehouses, the hides stockpiled to make more flight jackets. They were in pristine condition too!
I was fortunately enough to get my hands on an A2 jacket made from one of those hides at that time.
