Ok, so I get how you could swing a graduate student hard enough to break vines out of the way with brute force. But how do you use one to filet a fish? They aren't that sharp!

I would say a good vintage ww2 bolo knife, since it was used for clearing out vegetation or digging into hard dirt it would have helped Indy in both the jungles and the desert. They range in size from machete to fighting knife so he could always have room for it.

Nice Knives!

I think Indy would carry something just a little simpler but also chunky. I decided to go with a No.10 Stainless Steel Opinel as it gave that simplicity yet was also a good size without being too big ( 4" blade - folder).

Opinel is a company who have been making a variety of knives (No.2 - No.13) for over 100 years - Indy could have easily picked one up on his travels around France and the Savoie district.

I decided to slightly customise mine so I drilled a lanyard hole and attached a leather chord. I also darkened the original beechwood by rubbing olive oil into the handle and then 'roasting' the knife in my AGA. I like how it turned out.
