USW Striated Lamb Legend - recommendations?
I've used Pecard dressing on every jacket I own, except my SL. I've been holding off because I'm trying to break it in and allow a bit of natural distressing to take hold (that...and I've been deployed for a year and a half). Regardless, I've realized that now is the time to start caring for this jacket. Before I apply the armor plating though, I'd like to get some opinions on what works best on this amazing hide. From what I can tell, the "smooth" finish on the SL seems to call for an oil-based product or a lotion/gel rather than the standard dressing. Anybody have any experience here or opinions? Thanks in advance.

For the lamb, I would go the lexol route.

Yup, that's what I use on my Legend SL to good effect, however if you want something that makes it more waterproof and not just a leather conditioner, you might be better off with a Pecards product. I've heard their leather lotion for motorcycle jackets might be a good substitute.Kemosabe wrote:For the lamb, I would go the lexol route.

Oops! I forgot to give credit where credit is due. I do believe I did hear that from the Knower of Things himself! So, if it messes up your jacket it's not my fault, blame Michaelson instead.Michaelson wrote:Where'd ya hear that?

What ever you do, if you want to keep that look, don't wash it
She'll wrinkle like a raisen and bloat like a beached whale.
That said, it's not a bad look on the jacket

Personally, I don't mind the wrinkling, or even the bloating per se, in fact I do like it, but I also really like the jacket's color and it looks like it loses a lot of it when it's washed.

That is to say, I like the way the jacket looks, not that I like to be bloated.ShanghaiJack wrote:Personally, I don't mind the wrinkling, or even the bloating per se, in fact I do like it, but I also really like the jacket's color and it looks like it loses a lot of it when it's washed.

Well, I don't think it lost that much color. Then again I didn't take pics to be able to say for sure. That said, I believe it could be the fact that it lost so much of that buttery sheen that it lost that "look" opposed to the actual color.ShanghaiJack wrote:Personally, I don't mind the wrinkling, or even the bloating per se, in fact I do like it, but I also really like the jacket's color and it looks like it loses a lot of it when it's washed.

You might be right. It might just be that it looks so much drier rather than n actual loss of color. I'm going to look at Weston's before and after shots again. If it's just an issue of dryness that might be cured with a good conditioning after the wash. I might reconsider throwing mine in the washer after all. It might help shrink it up a bit too. It's so big now that I can wear my TNO raiders jacket underneath it.

Thanks guys, lexol on order via amazon.
Now, while I certainly respect a Gearhead's right to practice unnatural water-related distressing, there's no way in hades that my SL is getting anywhere near the washing machine. Just saying...

Look, I tripped and it fell in there.
It was an accident
On the cool wash cycle...
With no detergent...
By itself.
Yeah, an accident
