Indy's Fedora Worn By Other Actors In Other Films

Post by Marshall Barnett »

Given that there are 81 pages discussing Indy's Fedora and given that at the moment I'm at work, I don't have a lot of time to search all 81 pages, so if this topic has already been discussed, please forgive me. If what I'm going to discuss is common knowledge, I've never heard it.

While watching "The Goonies" and "The Phantom" I noticed that one character in each film wore, what I believe to be one of the fedoras worn by Harrison in ROTLA.

In "The Goonies" actor Robert Davi is wearing a fedora upon escaping from prison. The high crown and the tight pinch in the front look very Indy. Given that Steven Speilberg was one of the writers of "The Gooines" and directed ROTLA it's not unrealistic for this to have happened.

In "The Phantom" actor James Remar wears a Indy looking fedora at the beginning of the film, again a high crown and tight pinch in the front.

Given that "The Phantom" was set in 1938 and was a Paramount Studios production, as was ROTLA, it's possible that one of Indys fedoras made its way into the wardrobe of "The Phantom".

Any thoughts?

Rumor has it that the fedora from Goonies was borrowed from Temple of Doom, which was from around the same time and had the same child actor star in both:

Thanks NES. It figures, I just hadn't looked through enough postings. I forgot that Davi's fedora didn't look as much like the ROTLA fedora as I remember, it's been several years since I've watched "The Goonies".

Any thoughts on the fedora worn in "The Phantom"? A quick search online didn't reveal any good shots from the movie.

Thank you.

I'd watched the Goonies recently and thought the same thing, but the one in the film was a different crease, so I'd assumed that it was perhaps not the same...The tear drop still looks great though, and the colours are the same as far as I could tell..Entirely...

Not seen the Phantom in years...So can't comment on that one though...I've also not seen it in the rental store here in Japan...Maybe it didn't make it out this far? Or the name's something wildly different...

Meh..
