I'm speechless. That's a beautiful suit! Did you specify it to the tailor, or did he already have vintage patterns to work with? I'm also planning something similar and have selected a nice brown fabric for mine as well...
You should definitively use it with the vest. Because it goes that high, thus showing only a small patch of shirt (VERY 30's), you should try wearing a bowtie to it, preferrably in burgundy - looks great with brown.

One more thing - fashion stated that the vest should be worn with the bottom button undone. Add a pocket watch with chain and you'll look swell...

Absolutely terrific looking suit! I love the back pleats and the vest adds so much to the whole look. A nice olive green tie would set it off nicely.

I don't want to appear crass, but how much does it cost to have a suit made in that style? (PM is fine so that you don't disclose a figure publicly.) I am sure it is not inexpensive but when you compare it to a ready-to-wear suit from Barney's for example, I'll bet it's close in price if not less but a better fit being a custom.

I agree wit Scandinavia Jones about the vest, and that a pocket watch and chain would really add a nice touch of detail. Also, one minor constructive criticism if you don’t mind; if you look at the illustrations you went by in the Lounge, I think the kerchief is sticking up a bit too high, and probably would look better on the double breasted you’re planning on anyway, and the shirt sleeves definitely appear too long (by today's standard anyway). The cuffs of a shirt should come down no more than the fold formed between the hand and the wrist when bent. Of course this may have been different in the 30's, I don’t know. But again, using your reference illustration on the lounge, that would appear to be the case back then as well. However, overall a very sharp ‘look’ you’re sporting. Congrats. Can’t wait to see the blue double breasted.

The suit is a bit big on me now, It kept getting taken in while it was being made because I have been losing weight.

I popped some stitches on the lining trying to get my arms throgh the smaller arm holes (used to putting both arms in at once), though when the jacket is on it feels more like wearing a sweater because of the fit.

The whole suit needs to be taken in again because I'm shrinking.

You might want to consider super sizing your next few orders at McDonalds, a couple weeks on that diet will certainly solve any lost weight concerns.
