Congratulations!
Did you manage to find out what maker it is?
It looks a lot like my mint G. & S. Ltd. 1943 although I can't place my finger on what it is. :-k

Swindy

It'll most likely lighten up quite a bit after washing 60+ years of grime and mold away... I know mine looked just like that when I first got it but after soaking it in a bucket of oxi-clean and some gentle hand-washing it looks a little more faded, which I think looks even better. I have to get batteries for my digicam so I can get some pics of my gear up :-k

Unfortuantely Soldier of Fortune did not specify the make of the bag, but there are some very faded numbers that I will have to take a look at to see if I can trace the origins of the bag. (I know that post is around here somewhere) I know I will have to stop by the store tomorrow and see if they have some oxi-clean, I don't know if Publix has it in stock.

BTW Guybrush, is that quote in your sig from Discworld?

No, the 3- headed fertility idol joke is a play on a joke from a game called Monkey Island, which is where my name and avatar come from

The actual quote is used by the game's main character, Guybrush Threepwood (mighty pirate) and is used against enemies when he wants to escape (it rarely works) :

Look behind you, a 3-headed monkey!
