Where's the best ammo deals?

Post by Pyroxene »

I enjoy shooting. On a given weekend, I can push 250 rounds of any one caliber down range, EASILY.

Where are, you all finding the best deals on pistol target ammo. I am working on an MS Excel spreadsheet that calculates cost-per-round depending on shipping & tax.

The sources I am currently following are:

Wal-Mart (Some good deals on Winchester White Box ammo)
Bass Pro Shops (Good 9mm price)

www.cabelas.com
www.sportsmansguide.com
www.cheaperthandirt.com
www.ammoman.com

Mainly, I am looking for pistol rounds like 9mm and .45 ACP.

Thoughts?
Thanks,
Pyro.

I recommend the XL650. When buying primers, powder, and brass in bulk, and casting my own bullets, I can get it down to about $0.11 cents per cartridge.

If you don't want to load your own, the key to good prices is buying in bulk. Try this place.

Also, start hitting up the gun shows in your area. In my area, we have a retailer called Georgia Arms that sells reloaded cartridges for about half what they cost new.

I guit buying ammo from Wal-Mart because I have had problems with primers seated too deep or too little, bullets seated too little, and lack of powder. I think they must get seconds form manufacturers.

Pyro, you may try the San Antonio or Austin Gun Shows. Collins Cartridge Company out of Conroe is usually there. They have very good prices, and sell .45 Auto Rim ammo for your S&W H.E. as well.
