I'm Famous! Well . . . almost! :) EXTRA!! EXTRA!!

Post by DarenHenryW »

In my little town of Castro Valley, CA, a group of local journalists have been putting together a series of little stories of things happening around town. They have a Facebook page and Youtube channel. In their wisdom, they decided to shoot a video of me and my whipcracking group, "East Bay Whipcrackers".

Here's the finished product!

Enjoy!

Very cool! I really enjoy your videos and have actually learned some new stuff from them...and I`ve been playing with whips since the early 80`s! Never stop learning... :H:

Congratulations, Daren. It is good that something which started out as casual, has received the deserved attention, just because you all are passionate of what you do!

SPOILER ALERT:

"So is a whip a good weapon?"

(without hesitation) "No. Only an idiot would carry around a bullwhip looking for trouble."

:rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
That got me to spit my coffee! =P~

I'm surprised they didn't ask about swinging from a whip.

Great job on the interviews.

Yay! I got a mention in the video.

I was watching Anthony Delongis's DVD this morning, and he's definitely the man when it comes to bullwhip cracking.

Thanks, everyone!

Adam, of course you got a mention! And you deserve more than that. Your whip videos absolutely got me started understanding fundamental whip-cracking, and have continued to inspire me to want to learn more and more complicated and intricate routines! Thank you again!

And yes, as anyone who knows me knows, I've trained with Anthony a few times. Plus, I am happy to say that I am planning another trip to the ranch next month. Anthony has been a great teacher to me and I'm so grateful to him for sharing his knowledge, his time, his tools, his home, and always giving more to work on every time I leave his ranch.

Adam, I sure hope I can track you down one day for some lessons. You truly are a brilliant artist and I would love any opportunity to learn from you!

Thanks, again, everyone, for checking out the video!

:)

Here's the EXTRA EXTRA Part:

As sort of a follow up, the fellow whose finger and waist I wrapped also wrote a little story about me and EB Whipcrackers for our local paper!

:)

(For the record, I said my DM was worth close to $1000, not over . . . :)

Awesome article Daren.

What's more, it's neat to learn that other English teachers have interesting hobbies as well.

I've been teaching English for 15 years but have always kept up with a variety of hobbies including costuming, stage fighting, camping, triathlon, and even competitive pistol.

Between you and Hickok 45 on Youtube, it's nice for everyone to know that teachers have interests beyond just their subject.

Enjoying your Youtube video as well. Keep up the good work.

He's also one heck of a drummer to boot!

Very cool Daren!
Watch out though! Stuff like this could snowball and the next thing you know you've got your own reality show!

Great day...and for a desert dweller like me the San Francisco weather was awesome (sorta chilly and overcast)...
