Akubra Adventurer Help

Post by Aragorn658 »

Hello I have two akubra adventurer fedoras and i'm looking for help with a re-block, ribbon replacement, and checking the brim and sides to see if there accurate or need to be trimmed down. I just don't want these to go to waste, they are good fedoras but with some talent i think they can really shine. Thanks boys. I know it sounds like a lot of work but I would REALLY appreciate the help.

The specs for the fedoras are available on the main indygear site. In terms of reblocks and ribbon replacement, check with David Garrison (Local Land Surveyor). At one time he was offering the ribbon he uses for sale. He's pretty busy right now with his own hat making, but he may be available for a reblocks.

Regards,

Not sure if you've done the surgery on you two Adventurer's yet...

I got an Adventurer late last year. I replaced the original ribbon (which matched the felt color) with a dark brown/black one. I actually did the ribbon and bow work myself, copying the original Akubra bow. I think it turned out really nice. I didn't cut down the brim, as I think the larger brim looks very classy and gives the hat a more unique look.

Here are a few picks:

Please consider giving your hats and indy bash and test out a new ribbon before trimming the brim. You may just find that you like/prefer the look. And, if you have a larger hat size, you may find that the overall dimensions work...

Good luck! :TOH:
