Mark Allen about Joe Strain whip

Post by mark allen »

I would like to address the contraversy about the indy whip that was up on this sight last week.
First, I would like to thank most of you who know better, that came to the defence of Western Stage Props. To those of you who gave silly advice
"shame on you"
Our policy now, as it has always been. "If you open the box and don't like the quaility of the product you can send it back for a complete refund".
He was told that 3 times.
Second, No whip gets into our inventory that looks like that whip.
Third, If you request a whip made by a specific whip maker (strain, schultz, etc) thats what you get.
Forth, and most important!!!!
The whip in question arrived back to us at the end of the WWAC convention. No less than 10 experanced whip crackers and whip makers looked that whip over from end to end.
All concluded the following:
A: This whip was not used, it was abused "that's abused".
B: It doesn't matter if the whip was made by Morgan, Strain, Stenhouse, Nolan or 8 other experanced indi whip makers that I know who can make that style whip. If the owner of the whip is living out the indy fantisy by swinging on it, the whip will look like the one shown on this sight.
(i'm not saying that the young man who purchased this whip did this)
C: All presant that looked at the whip agreed that the bellies were streched, and the fall had stress marks.
It is a mystery to all of us how that whip came to be.
The purchaser seems like a nice young man who bought his first high quaitity indy whip and was disapointed. How this whip got this way is a mystery to all of us.
I have been cracking whips for 40 years and selling them for 20.
I have known Joe Strain since he was 15 years old. Joe, is in my opinion one of the best whip makers and craftsmen around. Besides Joe I have nurtured the whip makeing skills of many whip makers and exposed there products to the industry. I would not jepordise there reputation or mine to make a few bucks.
Thanks to all of you for your interest in our products and for your support of all the talented whip makers. This is a special interest sport, we are all partners in keeping the interest in whips and whipcracking alive.
Mark Allen
PS. How about putting a spell chcek on this form.

Mark,

Thank you for joining Club Obi-Wan and for taking the time to personally respnd to this issue. Rest assured, the majority of folks here who have done business with you and Western Stage Props have had nothing but the best experience. Your reputation is well intact.

I hope that you will continue to join us here for more whip related discussion. Your contributions are most welcome.

Hello Mark !

I feel like I am in the presence of whip royalty ! :notworthy:

Welcome aboard and until they get spell check I won't keep score on misspellings.

Thanks for the input on that whip. I was sure that it was not WSP's. ( Now if I can control myself and not cave and buy that 8 foot Terry Jacka instead of living room carpet I'll be fine ! :P )

Stop by anytime !

Regards and Peace

Thanks Mark for clarifying and as one of the admin's here, I certainly supported the integrity of WSP - on that thread and any other! WSP in my opinion has the highest integrity in delivering not only high quality whips, but other gear from their catalog for the hobbyist, serious afficianado to the professional performer. WSP is in business to supply high integrity products, nothing less.

Welcome again Mark and there is nothing like hearing it first hand.

-Walt "Sergei"

p.s. We don't need no stick-in spell checkers. :-) If you get it close, it's allrite! :-)

Mark Allen AND Joe Strain both sign up as members of the forum... It'll be wonderful to have their knowledge here. I have TWO Joe Strain whips from WSPs and Mark Allen's business is great to work with. Both times they were friend AND fast. I can't recommend Joes whips as more than I do and Mark Allen for everything he offers.

Welcome to both of you! :)

To those of you who gave silly advice
"shame on you"

So now that I've read over the post, where's the silly advice? Seems pretty sound to me. Don't like it, send it back.

Did I miss something?

Now that I know, I'm going to adopt Hannibal's "Watchful Waiting" strategy and keep my mouth shut until I know both sides. Thanks to Bodhidiver for the PM, too.

Best Regards,

Is that all you do, brag about your 95 whip collection?
Because every single post you have made says something
about your 95 whips. Are you trying to impress us? Cause you are
doing a bad job at it. There is only 1 post you have made where it
does not include your whips. Sorry but its just
a question I have been wanting to ask. If you never
intended anything like that then i am sorry for jumping
to a conclusion.

We should put this all behind us. The positive news is it brought Mark Allen in as a member here and that is a very good thing. I want to welcome him and hope he will become a regular contributor. In my opinion he is the number one whip guy in the country. HEY GUYS MARK OWNS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL RAIDERS WHIPS, enough said.

Welcome Mark
