Well, I finally did it. I got my Wested!!!
I finally ordered my Wested. After about 2 months of intense planning, and reading just about every post in the Leather Jacket section, I did it.
Here are the specs, if anyone is interested:
Height 5'9"
Chest 49"
Sleeve 24"
Jacket Sz 50 REG.
Style Temple of Doom
Leather Authentic Brown Goatskin
Lining Cotton body/ Satin sleeves
Side Fast. D-rings
Special Requests:
1. Tapered sleeves at cuffs
2. Back panel extended to shoulders
3. Hidden press snaps on storm flap
4. Right hand zipper pull
5. Extra inside pocket
6. Elastic between pleats
Now, I hope I didn't leave anything out, but believe me, I went over this with a fine tooth comb. The only thing questionable, is the side fasteners, but I love the way the d-rings look, so they will have to do.
NOW, the long and arduous wait begins.

You seem like a pretty big guy. Did you ask for the armholes to beNow, I hope I didn't leave anything out, but believe me, I went over this with a fine tooth comb.
made slightly bigger?
You didn't add the gussets to your order, and the normal arm holes on all the Westeds
are fairly slim fitting.
If you work out, or have larger biceps, you need to have the armholes
made bigger, or the jacket is going to be tight when you reach or stretch
your arms.
I wish I had my Wested made with larger armholes. Maybe an inch
or so bigger in diameter up at the armholes, tapering down to the wrist.
Right now, if I wear anything bulkier than a heavy tee-shirt, I can feel
the jacket getting tight around my biceps when I reach or stretch my arms.
And I am by no-means a weight lifter or anything.
Flathead
How does this sound
Im looking forward to order my Wested with this spez :
Temple Jacket
Dark Brown - Durable Goatskin
Lining:Satin
for Screen accuracy : no brass eyelets at side straps
Silver Zipper
Hidden press
NameTag
Extend back panel all the way out to the sleeves and taper to hem.
Sleeves seams ends perfectly where the back panel ends.
No threads in the action pleats (under the side straps)
Elastics between action pleats
More sculptured pocket flaps then standard
untapered sleeves
Underarm Gussets
Dual inside pockets : press stud for left inside and a “last Crusade Pocket” for my “Gral Diary”
Make the Jacket a bit longer in front than in the back
little roomier fit because it will be my general winter jacket
pocket placement : at 1" from the storm flap and 1.5" from the bottom
Storm flap width 1.5"
How does it sound ? Have I forgotten s.th

Well, it looks like by this time tomorrow, I'll have my Wested in my greedy little hands. After a hard 8 week wait, I confirmed with Gerry this morning that my Authentic goat was shipped out yesterday, and after using the DHL tracking number she gave me, I've confirmed it is in country, made it through customs, and on it's way to Philly, via New Yorks DHL center.
Stay tuned Wested fans, I'll let you know the full scoop as soon as I get that sucker on my back. Should be by tomorrow night
UPDATE:
Due to the fact that like most of us, DHL does NOT like to work on the weekends, so I won't be seeing that sucker until Monday

That's what I've been wondering. I believe there may have been a mix up on my order.
The first time I called Peter was at the 4 week mark, and he was looking through the work orders, and said "You were waiting on the dark brown goat, and what happened is, we had a bad batch of hide, and we are expecting a new batch in a few days." I said, "Fair enough, thanks for not making my jacket with inferior skins."
After I hung up, I realized, YIKES!, I ordered authentic brown, not dark brown, and didn't realize what Peter had said. I had to wait until the next morning to call him back, to make sure they got the right order.
Well, last week, I received an email apologizing for the long wait, and that my jacket would be dispatched in the next 10 days.
I called again this morning to, basically to complain, and find out what was going on, because I was seeing so many people get their jackets, who had ordered theirs around the same time, or after I ordered mine.
Well, Gerry answered the phone, and was extremely nice and she let me know that my jacket had shipped out.
So, it looks like I won't get it until next week, because I just checked the DHL website, and it said that the jacket was attempted to be delivered from NY, to the local DHL office, but the office was closed.
I can only assume that the jacket has returned to New York, and it will be delivered to my local office again of monday, and I probably won't get it until Tuesday now. Ohhh the agony.
Anyway, this wasn't the pleasant experience I was hoping for, and I know Peter and the gang are very busy, but I just can't help feeling my order slipped through the cracks. Now, I just hope it has all of my options, and correct measurements, because I'd hate to have to send her back, and go through another long wait.

Blues,
I was going to say something yesterday, when you first wrote about it coming tomorrow (Saturday), But I didn't want to be a spoiler. Monday will be here soon and you will have it: "The stuff that dreams are made of."
I, for one, can't wait to see it and I hope you post pics soon.
I wish you the best,
Tim

Well folks, the long and arduous is over. I finally got my Wested Goat.
Now, I was off work today, so after spending the morning with my face pressed against the storm door glass, looking for the DHL truck like a dog waiting for the folks with the food to come home, it finally came.
I eagerly signed the guys delivery sheet, and rushed in to open her up.
Now was the tough part. After some confusion on what was going on with my order over the past few monthes(read above) I was hesitant on opening her up, and being disapointed.
I stared at the plastic encased box for a moment, took a deep breath, and tore that sucker open like a rabid dog!!!!
After opening the box, there it was, inside a black Wested plastic bag.
Rats, still another level of this torture to see my jacket. I carefully opened the bag, because I want to keep it for princaples sake, and took the jacket form the bag.
The first thing I noticed was how dark the jacket was. I had ordered authentic brown, but, as you have read above, there may have been some confusion in my order.
Either way, the jacket looked great. Funny thing was, after I made my order back in late January, a few weeks in, I had wished I'd ordered dark btrown instead, because I was still unsure what Authentic looked likem because every picture I'd seen looked different.
Funny how things work out that way.
Anyway, the second thing I noticed was the little size tag said size 56.
I thought, Oh No! I ordered a 50, so a 56 was going to be way too big.
So I held my breath again, and tried her on.
Fits PERFECT!!!!
The jacket wears like I stood in Peters shop and had him measure me up.
Very awesome fit, and drape.
Then I figured, lets check if all the options were there.
Sure enough, each and every option was there:
Hidden press snaps on storm flap,
Slightly tapered sleeves,
Extra inside pocket,
Elastic between the action pleats,
and right hand zipper pull.
Everything there I asked for, altho on hind site, I should have went with the standard zipper pull. I think it would have looked better the other way.
All in all, this jacket was worth the wait. It was torture, especially for someone like me has has zero patience. But the folks at Wested have done it again, and I love my "dark" brown Wested Goat.

Well, I finally did it. I got my Wested!!!
Congrats on getting your Wested! It seems like every time someone gets a new piece of gear, the cheers and cigars get passed around as if someone just had a baby!
It's good to read about your concerns and worries. I am waiting for my first Wested and even though I had a good talk with Peter and asked all kinds of questions, I still can't help but feel that maybe the jacket may be a little too big or that the fit might be off. Yet, your jacket fits you perfectly, as have the jackets of so many other nervous "Wested-waiters" I've read about. It helps put my mind at ease a little as I wait for mine to show up!
And even if something is wrong with my jacket when I get it, I feel confindent knowing Peter will do everything in his power to make it right. The only down side would be the additional wait!
This is what I'm waiting for: a Wested Raiders in authentic goatskin, cotton body and satin sleeves, antique brass zips and D ring fasteners, extra inside pocket, and both inside pockets with zips. My only concern with the fit is that I told Peter that I wanted to be able to wear the jacket with a wiastcoat underneath or MAYBE a thin sweater. I measure a 38" chest and wear a 40 jacket and told him this. I'm hoping the jacket isn't too loose around me! But again, if IndyBlues got his jacket perfectly, I'm sure mine will be, too!!!!

Blues,
I was looking for this post all day. I am so happy to hear that it came and that you are happy with it. Make sure that you are happy with everything before you start wearing it around because you don't want to "void your warranty". It sure sounds great and I can't wait to see the pictures. Very good news, indeed!

Thanks for all the congrats, and Ren is right, if you want to wear your jacket in the colder monthes, then order it with ample time for when you need it.
Your right Canyon, I can't take the thing off, or stop gawking at it. It is really a nice jacket, and I love the way the goatskin wears, as opposed the the new cow hide Wested I had last year.
Now, where is that army truck I can drag behind to field test this sucker

See, I told you it would come!
Congrats on the jacket. It's great to see someone who waited through such torment finally receive and be over the moon for his product. If you're anything like me(or 95% of the other people on this forum) you'll be looking for excuses to wear this jacket to bed . Not a day as gone by since I got mine two weeks ago that I haven't worn it, and the goat is starting to get some beautiful wrinkles in the sleeve. I still can't pass a reflective surface without stopping to admire my jacket and I'm sure it'll be the same way with you. Enjoy!!

Thanks again for all the kind words.
Swindy, I just let Peter and the gang handle the pocket placement. It wasn't such a big deal for me.
IndianaGuyBrush, funny you should say that about checking myself out in the mirror all the time. I went to run a few errands yesterday, and you are correct, every reflective surface, I found myself checking out the jacket. People must have thought I was a loon.
It would have been better with the zipper pull under the storm flap, on the left hand side instead. Should have left that option out, too. When you walk, it jangles like crazy.
Now, HOW am I supposed to sneak past the Hovitos with all that racket??

I'll do that too. "Whatever looks good" works for me. The question was really about the size of the pockets though.Swindy, I just let Peter and the gang handle the pocket placement. It wasn't such a big deal for me.
I will have my pockets the size inbetween Raiders and Temple. I know for a fact that my hands are rather big and I want to be able to reach whatever happens to lie in my pocket although have them a bit smaller than "Raiders" size. Should be interesting to see how it works...

Swindiana, great point to bring up.
Hmmm. I wonder if the pockets are made in the proportion of the size jacket you order?
If you have large hands, then maybe you SHOULD ask Peter to adjust the size for you. My pockets are placed perfect for puting my hands in the warmers comfortably, without any weird placement of my arms.
Maybe Peter can make them a little taller and wider for you.

I just recieved an email from Peter, apologizing for the mix up.
It is a Dark brown goat, and Peter can only attribute this to human error.
I say, no big deal, considering this jacket looks so great, it's not going back for any reason. Unless of course I mess it up in some way and need a repair, but I'm keeping her.
Cheers to you Peter, for making my dream Indy jacket.
As far as the mistakes, I say:
To err is human, but my Wested goat is devine.

Blues,
A belated congratulations on the new Wested. I, myself, prefer the Dark Brown (Although I've never seen the Authentic in person, and I do plan to get one of them...soon) because it's just so....dark. In all my years of searching through rack after rack at leather stores and outlets, looking for that Indy-like jacket (in the years before I knew about Wested) I've never come across another brown leather as rich and dark as that of my Wested. Plus, as my ever observant girlfriend pointed out to me, the color of the ribbon on my Fed. Deluxe matches the dark color of the jacket nicely...
Good luck with the new Jacket! Wear it well!
