not sure if this is from a movie or not, but what do you guys think about this jacket with a fedora? If you guys get a chance to check out this website (if you haven't already) its pretty neat. thanks!! :P :P :P

also, i don't know if anyone is interested in the dark knight rises but this jacket looks like something bane is wearing in the new tv spots while he's spanking wall street, but his other longer jacket with the fur liner also looks bad ###

I don't know if I could pull it off at my age (or size), but that is a seriously cool jacket.

Impressive. A little long for me too, but that's just me and MY 'druthers'.

That's a nice look! :M:

Add a scarf, and you're ready for anything thing Mother Nature throws your way!

It's an nice jacket, but I don't know that I would wear an Indy fedora with it. For some reason the association I made with it was Rorschach.

I'd have to go a size up from the way the model is wearing it. He looks like he's holding in his kishkas. But I think it'd go fine with a fedora.

I may be mistaken, but I think there have been some issues with some of those. In addition to what info members here might have about these companies, I'd also suggest checking this link:

Those guys again... You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Soul Revolver is cool though, and Lee is a good guy.

As far as jackets that you can wear a fedora with, I tend to think the less detail of the jacket, the better. Once a jacket gets too ornate, then the fedora starts losing focus to the jacket. Plus, I am a simple (minded) man. I also like the shorter jackets with the fedoras. Here are some of my favorite jackets with the fedora.

First up, A Heron Leather J212. Super lightweight and perfect for summer. Only $189 and made in Mexico.
Image

Next, a genuine 1930's jacket from a company called Archer. I got it from a now defunct company called Ghost Motor Clothes.

Image

Finally, a Lost Worlds' Ryder horsehide jacket. Not cheap and if you can handle Stuart you are halfway there. The ###### of jackets sometimes.

Actually, there are now over 20 sites to steer clear from. They use stolen images, screen captures, and many other "fleecing tricks" to try luring unsuspecting buyers. After a while you can tell just by visiting the sites because most of them use the same images. And I know where they originally came from. LOL.

And it almost comical (mostly pathetic though...) when you call them out on it. They get SO defensive! I emailed hollywoodjackets when they stole some of Dan's (Theman here, of Logan's Closet) pics and they got snippy with me. Little did I know others were calling them out just as I was and when they realized multiple people were on to them they immediately changed their tune ...

Great looking jacket, Rick. :M:

I just have a HECK of a time with leather jackets that have buttons. They either never work, or I'm constantly losing the buttons.

Thanks Michaelson - these are jean buttons, so they are very secure and not as clumsy as regular buttons. The leather is thin as well so it makes buttoning the jacket a snap. Uhmm, you know what I mean. Here is a close-up shot.

Actually, it is design roots are from the late 60's/early 70's style denim jackets. I am just trying to show some variations is all. I know these jackets are not for everyone. While I realize that this is an Indiana Jones site, I think that the fedora can compliment much more than an Indiana Jones style jacket - and thought I would share a few of my images with everyone. I think the fedora works from the 30s style jackets to present day jackets.

I agree. I often wear a brown fedora with a '70s-style brown leather car coat. Great look, if I do say so, myself.

It will not matter. Many of the replica jacket companies are owned by the same people. If one gets a bad rap, they close it down and open another company selling the same jackets using the same images. That is why we try to expose these sites. Knowledge is power but in reality, the facts are simple. They are thieves. They steal. You will get ripped off. Yet people still give it a shot and use them because they are cheap. Baffles me, actually.

rick5150- those jackets are all really cool looking.....you pull them off very well. I have slowly started to branch out into other jacket to wear as I have a good feeling about this Kelso number and will retire all others if it is what I think it is. And immediately your Heron Leather J212 caught my eye. The others did too but the term "lightweight" hooked me. I may pull the trigger on this one if funds allow.
But they all look real good with the fedora. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Gorak, I appreciate that - the Heron J212 is a great jacket for certain. One thing you may want to ask for is a (hidden) snap on the chest pocket as it has no closure right now. In the end, people associate the fedora worn with virtually ANY leather jacket with Indy, but it never matters because I think many of us go full circle.

We start out with close enough gear, migrate into the realm of screen accuracy from the original manufacturers, then venture off to close enough gear again as we find balance in our style.

Fellow musicians will understand this analogy: Learn some basic chords, then copy a song note-for-note, then use what you learned to create your own style. Same thing.

I've been kicking around the idea of a leather denim-style jacket. I think it just made the 'short list'. Big debate is brown or black. :-k

I'm trying to get some feedback on jacket weights, not in terms of protection from the elements, but actual weight in pounds or ounces. I have a pretty nice brown leather Jacket, not screen accurate, but Indyish and goes well with my fedora. It weighs in at a tad over 3.5 pounds, and that's with the lining removed. It has a zip out lining. It is cowhide and nicely supple. It is a Wilson Leather M. Julian. Are most of the Jackets such as Weston's and or Todd's equally weighty? :-k

Well if your talking about the jacket in the photo, I think it goes quite well with the fedora he's wearing. If you think about it, what is Indy's jacket if not a flyboy's jacket? I personally think it's nice to see the fedora with a jacket that looks Indyish without trying to duplicate his entire outfit. Nothing wrong with the entire costume, but for everyday? Not me. The fedora is more versatile than that. :D

I'm a bit late on this. I was talking about the first jacket posted that started the thread. I dislike the look of it immensely. Your denim-one I can take or leave but I get it's design roots.
